Suppose a museum displays two identical-looking bronze statues. One was cast five hundred years ago. The other was cast last year from a precise 3D scan. They have the same shape. They may even have the same colour. Are they the same thing?

Reconstruction Is Not Replica
A replica copies something that exists or is sufficiently known. A reconstruction often attempts to rebuild something incomplete or lost.
Reconstruction therefore contains more inference.
A missing roof, ancient face, damaged machine, historical street or extinct animal cannot always be reproduced directly because complete evidence does not survive.
