Before asking what the Voynich Manuscript says, there is a quieter question.
What kind of book is it?
Not which modern shelf should hold it.
Not which single picture looks most familiar.
What documentary job could explain the codex as a whole?
Herbal?
Medical compendium?
Receptarium?
Astrological handbook?

One private knowledge environment combining several of those?
The familiar six-section map does not answer this question.
It tells us how modern researchers navigate visually different parts of the manuscript.
Genre asks something higher-order.
What single kind of documentary object could naturally contain plants, circles, zodiac imagery, human figures, vessels, fragments, labels, foldouts and star-marked text without forcing those things into a modern disciplinary box?
