Dance can appear environmentally light because the most visible material is the human body. The full production system is heavier. Dancers and crews travel. Sets and costumes are made, stored and transported. Venues consume electricity. Audiences move across cities. Equipment is purchased. Freight crosses borders. Digital work uses servers, devices and networks. Sustainability begins by making those hidden flows visible enough to change.

The goal is not to prove that art has no footprint.

The goal is to reduce avoidable impact without destroying the artistic job.
