Top 200 Feelings, Performance and Confidence Vocabulary Words | Dancing

Performance writing becomes convincing when emotions match evidence. A dancer may be nervous before going on stage, frustrated during rehearsal, reassured by a teammate, determined after a mistake and exhilarated after a successful finish. Those changes create character.

Emotion Must Follow Evidence

If a dancer checks the same count repeatedly and rubs her palms against her costume, nervous or anxious may be reasonable. Terrified requires much stronger evidence. In comprehension and composition, emotional scale matters.

Character Arc for a Dance Story

Eager → nervous → frustrated → determined → reassured → composed → relieved → proud. This sequence can support a believable story about rehearsal and performance. The writer should not force every stage; choose only what the event supports.

Practice

  1. A dancer forgets one count during rehearsal but keeps practising. Which word best describes the response?
  2. A teammate quietly gives the cue they agreed on. Which word describes the effect on the nervous dancer?
  3. A performer finishes strongly after recovering from a small mistake. Which two feelings may reasonably follow?
  4. Write one action showing self-consciousness without naming it.
  5. Write a paragraph in which disappointment changes into determination.

Suggested possibilities: 1 persistent/determined; 2 reassured; 3 relieved and proud; 4 avoiding eye contact, adjusting clothing repeatedly or another supported action; 5 answers vary.
