Second principle: reconstruct the last timed paper
Write the approximate time at which each section or major question began.
You are looking for the first divergence point.

Third principle: budget by marks, not emotional importance

Fourth principle: time is a portfolio

“I will keep an eye on the time” is too vague.

Eighteenth principle: typing can be the digital equivalent
Online exams may shift the bottleneck to typing, navigation, scrolling or answer entry.
Practise the actual interface where possible.

Nineteenth principle: checking must have a budget
Checking is valuable.
Unlimited checking is not.
