The most defensible current position is practical: scheduling can clearly make required learning more or less accessible; whether a particular flexible model independently improves completion depends on context and remains an active research question.

The strongest schedule is therefore not the one with the most formats. It is the one that keeps enough credible routes open that different students can continue making applicable progress without asking their jobs, children, health or transport to disappear.
