ActiveSG Singapore, Sport Singapore, community sports Singapore, sports facilities Singapore, school sports Singapore, Team Singapore, inclusive sport Singapore and Active Health Singapore are not eight separate stories. They are interfaces in one national operating problem: how does a dense city make movement, play, competition, coaching, volunteering and athletic excellence available across an entire lifetime rather than leaving sport to whichever households can privately organise it?

In 2026 that operating layer is changing visibly. Sport Singapore’s Sports Facilities Master Plan continues to expand and renew neighbourhood infrastructure, including a programme to add 50 multipurpose courts over five years and a longer-term objective of bringing accessible sporting facilities within roughly a ten-minute walk of most homes by 2030. Sport Excellence Singapore, or SpexSG, was established on 1 April 2026 to integrate the High Performance Sport Institute, Singapore Sports School and Unleash the Roar! within a more coordinated high-performance ecosystem. The refreshed Disability Sports Master Plan continues to widen participation for persons with disabilities. The central thesis of Singapore As A Civilisation | 000031 is simple: an active nation is manufactured when a society can repeatedly convert space, time, coaching, community, education, inclusion, science and aspiration into lifelong participation and, for the small minority who choose and qualify for it, a credible path toward high performance. This page owns that operating chain. It does not replace the generic What is Sports owners, school PE owners, healthcare, ageing, town-planning or disability owners. It shows how those systems connect through sport.

1. Sport is a civilisation layer before it is a medal table

A medal table captures one visible output of elite competition. A civilisation needs a wider frame. Children need places to play, adults need opportunities compatible with work, older residents need safe forms of movement, coaches need pathways, facilities need maintenance and talented athletes need specialised support.
