Tuition | Guigang

Three students sit around open books and worksheets at a classroom table, reading, writing and discussing the work together.

Tuition in Guigang should begin with a child’s reasoning, not with a promise of a better grade. A pupil might complete every exercise on rates when the chapter is clearly labelled, yet become unsure when the same mathematics appears inside a story about the Xijiang River. Another can read an English passage fluently but cannot support an inference with evidence. Both need clarity about where understanding stopped—not automatically a larger workload.

This guide explains Guigang’s 2026 A+ to E examination grading and senior-secondary admissions process, then introduces practical approaches to Mathematics, Chinese, English, Physics, Chemistry and humanities tutorials. The teaching principles come from eduKate Singapore: diagnosis before tuition, continuity between earlier and later learning, carefully selected practice and a premium three-pupil tutorial structure. The fixed reference is the immutable Clementi Secondary 1 Mathematics tutorial in Singapore; eduKate does not claim to operate a Guigang classroom or locally available commercial subject-tutoring service.

The value of tuition is not that the pupil sees more answers. It is that the pupil can find and explain the next answer independently.

Guigang’s 2026 examination is grade-based even though subjects have raw points

Guigang Education Bureau’s June 2026 examination and high-school admissions plan uses eight grades for candidate results: A+, A, B+, B, C+, C, D and E. The city does not publicly release individual written raw scores as a general result; subject and overall rankings are presented in bands. The score used internally includes cultural examinations, Science practical work, Physical Education and Health, earlier Geography and Biology results and any authorised policy additions.

The scheme identifies Chinese, Mathematics and English at 120 raw points each; Physics and Chemistry at 100 each; Morality and Rule of Law and History at 75 each; practical Physics and Chemistry operations at 15 each; Physical Education and Health at 70; and Geography and Biology at 60 each. These raw allocations help explain what is examined, but the public admission result is expressed in grades rather than one universally published numerical score.

For Guigang’s 2026 overall and subject-grade allocations, the proportions are A+ 7%, A 18%, B+ 25%, B 20%, C+ 10%, C 13%, D 6%, E 1% of the relevant candidate population. These are distribution bands, not permanently fixed marks that a tutor can promise to achieve. Subject grades are published for Chinese, Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and the combined civic-and-History assessment.

Overall resultA+ through EGrade is a signal, not a full diagnosis

The city published its 2026 examination and admissions scheme through Guigang Education Bureau publicity and an accessible 15 July 2026 policy Q&A. The Q&A explains why marks are reported as grades and how families should use the authorised admission platform.

Admissions grades and school preferences are separate decisions

Under the July 2026 recruitment arrangements, candidates were directed to the official Guigang Admissions Examination Institute WeChat account and its school-preference mini-programme. The 2026 school-preference window ran from 18 July at 9 a.m. through 24 July at 5 p.m. under the final announcement. The city planned approvals beginning 26 July.

The city has different minimum control grades for special-talent routes, demonstration senior-secondary allocated-school places, ordinary demonstration senior-secondary places and other public school categories. At the same overall grade, admission ranking compares the numbers of stronger subject grades. If needed, the comparison proceeds in the order of Chinese, Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and combined civic-and-History, before further authorised tie-break procedures.

Families in Gangbei, Gangnan, Qintang, Guiping and Pingnan should check their correct local school and applicant rules. A pupil who meets a minimum grade may still not receive the preferred school because places and candidate ordering matter. A tutor can strengthen subject reasoning but cannot reserve a place, control a school allocation or obtain an application password.

The 17 July 2026 Education Bureau notice about minimum control grades and the final filing timetable is an important dated source. Do not rely on a previous-year screenshot or a tutoring advertisement claiming guaranteed school admission.

Why the same grade can hide two different learning problems

Imagine two Guigang students with an overall Mathematics grade of B+. One understands rates but regularly makes unit-conversion slips. Another calculates accurately but cannot identify what the ratio is meant to compare. They may have the same public grade but need different instruction.

A tutor should request two genuine mistakes from schoolwork. Ask the learner to explain what they believed the question requested, which numbers mattered and why the first method made sense. Next use one simpler example to test a prerequisite and one changed example to test transfer. The gap may be in missing knowledge, representing quantities, selecting the method, executing accurately or retrieving an earlier idea.

A good diagnosis sounds like this: ‘The pupil can calculate speed once instructed to divide distance by time, but does not recognise that relationship in an unfamiliar journey.’ That is a specific and testable teaching target. ‘Weak in Maths’ is merely a label.

Mathematics in Guigang: a fictional Xijiang route comparison

Consider two imaginary river journeys. Journey A covers 18 kilometres in 30 minutes; Journey B covers 24 kilometres in 40 minutes. Both average 36 kilometres per hour. A student comparing 24 and 18 without considering time may incorrectly decide Journey B is faster.

Instead of simply writing speed = distance ÷ time, ask the pupil to explain what speed measures. Draw both journeys, convert the minutes into hours, make a table and interpret the slope of a distance–time graph. Two journeys can have different distances and durations while sharing the same rate.

Change the question before supplying the answer

Change Journey B to 24 kilometres in 30 minutes. Ask whether the speed should rise or fall before calculating. It rises to 48 kilometres per hour. A pupil who can predict the direction and explain why has grasped the relationship, not only remembered the operation.

Keep the fraction-to-algebra bridge alive

A student knows three quarters of 48 equals 36. Reverse it: if 36 represents three quarters of a whole, how big is the whole? One quarter is 12; four quarters make 48. Secondary school writes the same relationship as 3x/4 = 36. A child who understands only the forward multiplication may struggle when the symbol x appears.

The tutor can show four equal boxes, reconstruct the whole, then write the equation. That is more useful than asking a pupil to memorise another algebraic rearrangement while the fraction meaning remains weak.

Understand fixed charges and per-item charges

Four items plus one six-yuan delivery fee cost 30 yuan: 4x + 6 = 30. If each item carries the six-yuan charge, the equation becomes 4(x + 6) = 30. Have the child describe the difference before solving; mathematical modelling begins with understanding the language.

Make checking concrete

A learner should estimate the expected size, label units, check signs and substitute results where possible. The tutor must distinguish a correct mathematical model with a copying mistake from a flawed model that happened to produce a plausible number.

Chinese and English: meaning is a connected system

Reading a passage accurately is not the same as understanding its purpose. A pupil may recognise every word but offer an unsupported inference; another may understand the text but write an answer whose examples do not address the prompt.

Use text evidence to support a Chinese inference

Give a short passage about a learner making a difficult decision before a journey. Ask what it explicitly states, what it implies and which sentence justifies that interpretation. The tutor should help the child move from a guess to an evidence-backed explanation and then apply the method to a changed passage.

English listening: train spoken meaning, not transcription

Guigang’s 2026 English paper includes listening. Use an unfamiliar announcement about a school meeting moved to a different room while keeping the same time. Ask what changed, what remains true and what the listener should do. Then play a new announcement without displaying the written script.

If the student only succeeds with the transcript present, the missing skill may be real-time listening. If the student understands the audio but gives an incoherent answer, oral or written organisation may be the target. These deserve different corrections.

A paragraph should have a clear job

Ask the child to state a claim, choose a relevant example and explain why it matters. Expensive tuition should not be devoted to copying sophisticated vocabulary into a paragraph that never answers the question. Clear purpose is foundational.

Science practicals and History: evidence matters

Guigang’s examination plan includes Physics and Chemistry practical operations. That is an opportunity to teach actual experimental thinking: what is measured, what is changed, what is controlled and how the results support a conclusion.

A fair comparison

Imagine a child investigating how temperature affects the time sugar takes to dissolve in water. Keep the sugar form and quantity, water volume, container and stirring comparable while changing temperature. Ask what measurement would count as evidence. If several factors change together, a conclusion about temperature alone is not secure.

The child can explore the reasoning with safe diagrams and data tables without using hazardous laboratory materials. Practical work requiring special apparatus should take place under qualified supervision.

Observation and explanation are different

A liquid becoming cloudy is something observed. Naming the cause requires relevant scientific knowledge and other evidence. In Physics, a rising graph line represents whatever the axes measure, not automatically ‘greater speed’. Teach the pupil to describe the data before choosing a formula.

History and civic explanation

A student may remember dates and principles yet fail to explain the cause of a historical event or apply an idea to an unfamiliar case. Provide two short sources, ask what each supports and invite a concise claim–evidence–reason explanation. This is connected reasoning, not merely a longer list of memorised answers.

The immutable Clementi three-pupil tutorial: compare the reasoning

The fixed Secondary 1 Mathematics Tutor Clementi | Small Groups Tutorials describes premium groups limited to three near Sixth Avenue MRT in Singapore. The teaching design gives the tutor time to observe each learner while allowing the pupils to hear contrasting approaches. It is not evidence of an eduKate Guigang centre.

In the river-rate problem, one student compares distance alone, another reverses time and distance and a third calculates correctly but forgets units. A thoughtful tutor names each error, helps the group explain the common relationship and then gives every pupil a changed independent question.

Small-group size is an opportunity, not a guarantee. A learner’s speaking time, the accuracy of feedback and the ability to work without a prompt matter more than the class-size label.

Repair, maintain or progress?

  • Repair: rebuild an earlier prerequisite that prevents this week’s work from making sense.
  • Maintain: use spaced recall, mixed question types and a concise error log for a pupil whose knowledge is fragile.
  • Progress: deepen strong understanding through alternative solutions, novel applications and evidence-based writing.
  • Reduce: when the learner is consistently independent, reconsider the need for ongoing extra tuition.

3Change context and mix earlier learningMethod selected independently
4Revisit after a delay and examine the full timetable costRetention and a sensible next decision

Families across Gangbei, Gangnan, Qintang, Guiping and Pingnan have different school routes. An advertised ninety-minute lesson can absorb much more time when transport, homework and meals are counted. A good intervention reduces friction elsewhere in learning rather than merely filling another evening.

Commercial tuition and Double Reduction

Mainland China’s Double Reduction framework regulates commercial academic-subject tutoring for children in compulsory education. A class does not become automatically permitted when labelled homework coaching, enrichment or a premium three-pupil tutorial. Age, subject, operating status, lesson mode and scheduling restrictions matter.

Before paying for any proposed Guigang service, check current national, Guangxi and city rules, lawful provider standing, teaching qualifications, fees, refunds and safeguarding. School-organised help and commercial tutoring are not the same arrangement. The Chinese Ministry of Education’s Double Reduction policy is a national reference, not approval for any specific provider.

Frequently asked Guigang tuition questions

Does Guigang publish raw examination points to families?

The 2026 policy reports the overall and individual cultural-subject results in A+ to E grades and does not disclose ordinary raw written marks as the public result. The internal examination components still have specified maximum scores.

How is a tie in the overall result resolved?

The city compares stronger subject-grade counts, then successively lower grade counts, followed by an ordered cultural-subject comparison and final authorised tie-break procedures. A tutor cannot guarantee admission through those rules.

Was the 2026 filing period 18–24 July?

Yes, under the city Education Bureau’s final 17 July announcement. The official mini-programme is the authorised route; keep candidate credentials private and check new notices for later years.

Should every low Maths grade trigger long-term tuition?

No. One missing fraction relationship or weak method selection may be repaired with focused teaching and delayed checks. School feedback and home practice can be sufficient.

Does eduKate have a Guigang branch?

No Guigang premises, local enrolment or commercial service is claimed. The immutable three-student programme is based in Singapore.

Published sources and connected tuition guides

Editorial note, October 2026: Grade bands, proportions and admissions dates refer to Guigang’s published 2026 cycle. Later applicant eligibility and tutoring law require current authoritative checks. River and workshop examples are invented for instruction, not actual transport or service records.

Less noise. More structure. Better independent understanding. The most valuable tuition decision in Guigang is the one that helps a pupil recognise and explain a relationship when the familiar question has changed.
