Places in Bukit Timah | Beauty World Food Centre Rooftop Eats and 2027 Hawker Guide

Original editorial illustration of a Singapore fourth-floor hawker food centre with noodle and dessert stalls and diners; a conceptual image, not a site photograph.

Did you know? The popular hawker floor near Beauty World MRT is on Level 4 of Beauty World Centre. It is not the same place as the interim Bukit Timah Market and Food Centre, which moved to Jalan Seh Chuan while its old site is being redeveloped.

The distinction becomes especially useful through 2027. Beauty World Food Centre is an existing rooftop-level dining destination at 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road. The interim market is at 2A Jalan Seh Chuan. A person searching only for ‘Bukit Timah hawker centre’ can easily end up at the wrong address.

There is a second trap in the name: Beauty World Centre at 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road is not Beauty World Plaza at 140 or Bukit Timah Shopping Centre at 170. These buildings are close, but they are not interchangeable.

Why is this food centre on the fourth floor?

Beauty World Centre is a mature mixed-use shopping building. Its upper-level food centre offers the kind of hawker dining found in many Singapore neighbourhoods, but in an unusually elevated setting. To reach it, enter the correct building, then use its internal lifts or escalators to Level 4.

That sounds simple until you are navigating the older Beauty World shopping cluster for the first time. Some nearby properties have their own food tenants, and the future transport hub will create yet another set of entrances. Saving the full address and level avoids the common error of walking around street level searching for a standalone market.

The rooftop or upper-floor setting also means some seating areas feel airier than a fully enclosed mall. Weather and crowd conditions still matter. An open-air hawker floor is not necessarily sheltered from every direction in wind-driven rain.

How to find it from Beauty World MRT

Beauty World station operates on the Downtown Line as DT5. Exit A is the usual way to approach Beauty World Centre. Follow current pedestrian and mall signage, then go up to Level 4.

If bringing someone using a wheelchair or a stroller, identify working lifts and step-free entrances before travelling. A station exit being close to a food centre does not prove the entire route uses no stairs or temporary barriers.

Our Beauty World MRT exits and shopping-mall directions guide gives broader street navigation, while this article concentrates on the hawker floor and how it differs from the interim market.

What kind of food can you find on the fourth floor?

Recent neighbourhood food guides describe a mix that includes noodle dishes, chicken rice, ramen, fried chicken and desserts. Operators change and popular stalls can sell out, so these are examples to look for—not a guarantee of a complete 2027 tenant list.

  • Eng Kee Chicken Wings: a September 2026 neighbourhood food guide lists its Beauty World Food Centre stall at #04-46.
  • Buta Kin: the same guide identifies a ramen stall at #04-28.
  • Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle Rice: listed at #04-48 in current neighbourhood guides.
  • Ye Tang Chendol: an earlier 2025 hawker guide identifies this dessert option at #04-26.
  • Other meals: look at the occupied counters and displayed menus rather than expecting every stall from an old roundup to be present.

A food centre is a collection of independently run businesses. Individual stallholders decide what they prepare, whether they open daily, when they stop taking orders and whether they temporarily close. That means a general centre opening-time entry can never guarantee a particular dish at 8pm.

Some listings contain prices and promotional claims, but these can become outdated. For a current order, check the price board, portion, payment method and ingredients at the actual counter.

Why do the different stall hours matter?

An early-serving stall may finish after lunch, while another may serve dinner. A customer arriving at the building at 7pm may find the centre accessible but the specific lunch stall already shuttered. Conversely, a shop may still prepare food when another has sold out.

Treat a published opening hour as a clue, not a guarantee. If you are travelling specifically for one popular item, look for the operator’s current notice or contact and have a second meal choice in mind.

For families with younger children, the useful strategy is to choose one main dish, one backup and a drinks or dessert option. It reduces time spent queuing or looking around when everyone is hungry.

What is different about the interim Bukit Timah Market?

The original Bukit Timah Market at 51 Upper Bukit Timah Road closed from October 2024 for redevelopment. The interim market at 2A Jalan Seh Chuan supports continued hawker and market activity during the works.

NEA’s official schedule marks the original market redevelopment closure through the end of 2029, with that date expressly tentative. URA’s related community-building plan also places the integrated community club, redeveloped market, hawker centre and other facilities on a later timeline than 2027.

That does not mean Beauty World Food Centre on Level 4 must close until 2029. It is a separate dining address. Do not apply redevelopment dates from the original Bukit Timah Market to this independently located food centre.

For the interim location and redevelopment timetable, see our interim Bukit Timah Market and 2027 visitor guide.

What is happening from October 2026 to December 2027?

Now: Beauty World Food Centre is an existing Level 4 dining destination. The interim Bukit Timah Market operates in a different location.

During 2027: the main practical changes worth checking are stall hours, tenancies, prices, food availability, lift access, pedestrian routes and any maintenance notices. None should be invented without a dated announcement.

Later development: the replacement Bukit Timah Market and community complex is associated with a tentative 2029 completion, separate from this rooftop food centre. The district’s future transport hub is also a separate project with its own timeline.

If a social-media post claims a favourite stall has moved, identify whether it refers to the original market, the interim market or Beauty World Centre. A similar food name does not prove the stall occupies the same venue.

A simple family meal plan

  • Save 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Level 4 for the existing Beauty World Food Centre.
  • Arrive at Beauty World MRT (DT5), use the appropriate Exit A approach and read building signage.
  • Take the internal lift or escalator to the fourth floor.
  • Check real stall menus and closing notices rather than relying on generic centre hours.
  • Choose a second food option if the desired stall is sold out.
  • If meeting friends, tell them ‘Beauty World Centre Level 4’, not just ‘Bukit Timah hawker centre’.
  • For a 2027 visit, confirm that the particular vendor still operates at that unit.
