Bayfront MRT to Merlion Park on Foot | Marina Bay Sands, Helix Bridge and Esplanade

Waterfront scene outside Marina Bay Sands looking toward the Marina Bay financial district.

Start at Bayfront MRT Exit D and follow the ArtScience Museum directions to the waterfront outside Marina Bay Sands. Walk to Helix Bridge, cross towards Marina Centre and follow the Esplanade waterfront. Jubilee Bridge takes you from the Esplanade side to Merlion Park.

This is the scenic waterfront route. It crosses the bay’s eastern opening near the ArtScience Museum, then reaches the Merlion from the Esplanade side. Use the names of the bridges as your checks. The route works well when you have time to stop for photographs or are showing someone Marina Bay for the first time.

  • Use Bayfront MRT Exit D for the ArtScience Museum approach.
  • From the waterfront, cross Helix Bridge towards Marina Centre.
  • Follow the water towards Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
  • Cross Jubilee Bridge to reach Merlion Park near One Fullerton.

Bayfront MRT Exit D to the Marina Bay waterfront

Bayfront (CE1/DT16) is served by the Circle Line and Downtown Line. Follow Exit D and the signs for ArtScience Museum. Marina Bay Sands’ museum directions describe taking the lift to Level 1, then walking out to the Waterfront Promenade. Use the lotus-shaped museum as your orientation point once you are outdoors.

If you reach the water beside a row of restaurants or a broad open part of the promenade, look for the museum and Helix Bridge before choosing a direction. The same waterfront extends in both directions. A quick landmark check saves time compared with simply following the crowd.

If you are meeting someone at Bayfront, agree on whether you mean Exit D, the museum entrance or the outdoor promenade. These are three separate points, and a group arriving from the street may reach the museum without passing through the station.

Helix Bridge to the Esplanade waterfront

At Helix Bridge, cross towards Marina Centre. The National Heritage Board describes the bridge as the link from Bayfront to Marina Centre on the waterfront promenade. There are viewing pods along the bridge. If you want to stop, use one of the wider viewing areas and leave the main path clear.

On the Marina Centre side, follow the bay towards Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. Look for the distinctive rounded roofs beside the water. Keep the waterfront as your reference point when signs also point towards shopping centres, Promenade or other parts of Marina Centre.

For a shorter visit, use the Esplanade as your turning point or finish there. You can choose whether to continue to the Merlion once you reach the theatres. That decision works well for families who want a walk but prefer to judge the distance on the day.

Jubilee Bridge to Merlion Park

From the Esplanade waterfront, follow the signs for Jubilee Bridge and Merlion Park. Jubilee Bridge is the pedestrian link directly between the Esplanade promenade and the Merlion Park side. As you cross, look back towards the Esplanade and ahead for the Fullerton area.

At Merlion Park, look for space away from the main flow of pedestrians before stopping for a group photograph. If you are finishing here, use the next destination on your map. Raffles Place MRT is a practical onward station for the East–West or North–South Line. The walk back to Bayfront is optional.

Plan the walk around daylight, weather and your group

Pick a time when the open-air sections suit your group. The promenade and bridges are exposed in places. If rain interrupts the walk, use a sheltered place you can reach and reassess before committing to the next outdoor stretch.

For a relaxed visit, leave time for the walk from the Bayfront platform to the promenade, the crossing at Helix and any photo stops. The promenade can feel easy when you are moving steadily and much slower when a group stops at every viewpoint. If you have a reservation later, give it a separate arrival margin.

On a busy event day, check local access notices and follow the diversions you see on-site. If your party needs step-free access, confirm the lifts and approach you will use at each station. An open promenade does not tell you which station lift is closest to your endpoint.
