Borealis normally runs at Supertree Grove on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 8pm to 8.30pm. From 27 November through 27 December 2026 and on 2–3 January 2027, the listed sessions move to 9.05pm–9.20pm on the regular show days in those periods. Extra shows run 9.05pm–9.30pm on 31 December and 1 January.
During Christmas Wonderland, ticket holders can view Borealis at Supertree Grove. Gardens by the Bay directs visitors without a Wonderland ticket to vantage points at World of Plants. Borealis is outdoors and is cancelled if it rains during the show time.
- Borealis and Garden Rhapsody have different timetables.
- Check whether your date falls under the festive schedule or a New Year extra show.
- Free viewing during Wonderland is from World of Plants, subject to conditions at the Gardens.
- Choose a route back to the MRT before the later show.

Borealis dates and show times in December 2026
Read the official Borealis listing before travelling. The seasonal change applies to the regular Saturday, Sunday and Monday schedule within the published ranges. It does not make Borealis a nightly event. Friday 27 November marks the beginning of a date range, so use the day-of-week rule when choosing your actual visit.
What about the last days of December?
The earlier seasonal range ends on 27 December. For any visit after that, check the official notice and the regular schedule together. The Gardens explicitly lists separate additional sessions on Thursday 31 December and Friday 1 January. New Year’s Eve has its own transport and crowd conditions in Marina Bay. If you are planning both Borealis and a countdown outing, check the return route and any restrictions at each location.
Is the special show still half an hour long?
The usual listing spans 30 minutes. The seasonal 9.05pm to 9.20pm window is 15 minutes. The New Year extra sessions are listed as 25 minutes. These are operating windows, so aim to reach your permitted viewing area before the start. An itinerary that arrives at the Gardens at 9.05pm leaves no margin to find the viewing point.
Where can you watch Borealis free during Christmas Wonderland?
Gardens by the Bay says that during Christmas Wonderland, festival ticket holders can view the installation from Supertree Grove. Visitors without a ticket can use vantage points at World of Plants. Check current signs and staff directions. The alternate public viewing area gives a different perspective, and access and sightlines can depend on where you stand.
Decide which experience you want
If you only want to see Borealis without paying for the festival, choose the public viewing plan. If you want Wonderland attractions as well, use the Christmas Wonderland guide to compare ticketed entry and show information. Check the night’s Borealis schedule separately, even if you already have a festival ticket.
How to meet a group at the right place
Agree on which viewing area you will use before going. A visitor with a Wonderland ticket may be standing in a different part of the Gardens from friends without one. Give the group a named public meeting point before the viewing starts and leave enough time to walk. If people arrive late, ask them to check the current signs rather than trying to cross the busiest paths at the last minute.
What happens if it rains?
The Gardens says Borealis is cancelled if there is rain during show times. Dan Acher’s installation uses light and cloud particles, and the appearance varies with conditions such as wind and humidity. A view on one evening can differ from a photograph taken on another. Use the venue’s current notices and follow staff directions if conditions change.
Give the evening a backup
Plan another activity you would still enjoy if the show is cancelled, such as a meal or a shorter walk when conditions allow. If you have paid admission to a separate attraction, confirm that attraction’s hours and access independently. A rain cancellation of Borealis does not tell you the opening status of every venue in the Gardens.
Is it an actual northern lights event?
It is an outdoor artwork inspired by the aurora borealis. The Gardens credits artist Dan Acher and a soundtrack by Guillaume Desbois. The header is an existing Marina Bay night photograph, for neighbourhood context. The event page has imagery of the installation itself.
Getting to the show and leaving afterwards
Use the Gardens’ visitor directions and choose the entrance according to your viewing location. Bayfront MRT Exit B serves Bayfront Plaza. From there, follow the current route towards the public World of Plants viewpoints or the ticketed entrance if that is where you are going.
Borealis versus Garden Rhapsody
The Garden Rhapsody schedule gives separate times. Do not use one show’s start as the other’s. If you want to see both, check the schedule for your date and find out what the entry conditions are for the place you intend to stand. Allow time to move if one viewing area does not serve both plans.
Return travel after 9pm
Check the last useful connection, especially if the MRT journey includes a transfer. If you are arranging a pickup, agree on a named legal location and allow for walking away from the crowd. For a family with small children, consider whether the later festive slot still fits the evening. A shorter meal and one show may be easier than trying to add several activities.
Which December evenings have a scheduled Borealis show?
Start with the regular days
Under the venue’s published date and weekday rule, the regular show dates from 1 to 27 December are 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26 and 27 December. These fall within the 9.05pm to 9.20pm seasonal period. The calendar comes from applying the venue’s weekday rule, so use its live listing if the date or access arrangements change.
Weekdays around Christmas
Christmas Day 2026 falls on Friday. It does not fall on a regular Borealis day under the published timetable. The following Saturday and Sunday do. If you are planning to see a Gardens show on Christmas Day itself, check the separate Garden Rhapsody schedule and any ticketed arrangements. For Borealis, choose the date and day together rather than treating the week as one schedule.
The dates after Christmas
Monday 28 December is outside the listed seasonal timing range and falls on a regular show day. Check whether the usual 8pm timing applies on the live page before setting off. The named New Year extras are 31 December and 1 January. Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 January return to the published seasonal 9.05pm timing.
If you can choose more than one night
An early decision about which viewing point you want is more useful than trying to predict the exact appearance. Check the forecast, your way home and the latest show status. If the night you want is wet, choose another listed date if your schedule allows. Visitors in Singapore for one evening can keep dinner or another stop as the anchor and treat Borealis as conditional.
