Singapore Botanic Gardens permits leashed pets in general areas, with several attractions off-limits. NParks lists the Foliage Garden, Evolution Garden, Ethnobotany Garden and Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden among the restricted areas. Indoor attractions also exclude pets.
Cycling is not permitted inside the Gardens. NParks provides designated bicycle parking at entrances. If starting near Botanic Gardens MRT, use Exit A towards Bukit Timah Gate and check the current signs before choosing where to secure a bicycle or walk with your dog.

Plan the dog walk before leaving home
Use NParks’ pet-access list alongside the Gardens map. Start with an open general path and check each attraction entrance before adding it. Keep the outing short if you are unsure about a connecting section. Agree to turn back at a known landmark so you can return without relying on a route through a restricted garden.

Keep your pet on a leash and under control throughout. Follow current notices and check the additional requirements linked by NParks if they apply to your dog.
Know which stops need a separate plan
The Centre for Ethnobotany is an indoor attraction and the outdoor Ethnobotany Garden also appears on the restricted list. NParks lists the Foliage Garden, Evolution Garden, Healing Garden and National Orchid Garden among other areas with restrictions. Read the full list before planning a longer walk.
When the group wants to visit an attraction
Choose a meeting point outside the restricted area if part of the group wants to enter. Another adult can continue along a permitted route with the dog. Set a meeting time so nobody waits at a gate that the other person cannot use.
Leave bicycles at a designated rack
NParks states that cycling is prohibited within the Gardens and provides bicycle parking bays at entrances. Follow signs to the designated racks and secure your bicycle before walking in. Its visitor rules also prohibit riding scooters and using skateboards in the Gardens.
If you are combining a ride with a walk, keep the two parts separate. Check the cycling route outside the Gardens before setting off and meet companions at a named entrance.
Check current signs when plans change
A route you used before can have temporary works or access changes. If a sign restricts pets or riding, follow it and choose a permitted path. If adding a café stop, confirm the outlet’s seating and entry rules directly.
For a short visit, start at Bukit Timah Gate and turn back from an open route that suits the group. A longer route across the Gardens takes more planning, especially when the group needs to return to the bicycle racks.
