How to Get to Sentosa: Boardwalk, Sentosa Express or Cable Car?

From HarbourFront, walk into Sentosa on the Boardwalk if you want a free pedestrian route and the walk suits your group. Take the Sentosa Express from VivoCity if you want a direct link to the station nearest your plans. Choose the Singapore Cable Car if the ride and views are part of the outing. Check the current fare and operating status before leaving. Sentosa getting there guide Singapore Cable Car operator information

Choose according to your first stop on the island. A route that is convenient for Resorts World may be less useful for an attraction near a beach or Imbiah Lookout. Check how you will finish the journey after entering the island and how you will return at the end of the day.

  • Decide which attraction, beach or hotel you need to reach.
  • Compare the whole route from HarbourFront to that door.
  • Check the fare, current access and the weather.
  • Leave room for a transfer or an extra walk after reaching Sentosa.
  • Save a return option before the group gets tired or the weather changes.

Start at the destination, then pick the route

Open the attraction or hotel’s directions and find the nearest useful arrival point. For Resorts World, the Boardwalk or the Express may give you a straightforward route. For the beach area, start by checking Beach Station and the onward walk or local connection. For Imbiah Lookout, compare the Cable Car’s station guidance with the routes from the Express or an island bus. Sentosa visitor transport information Cable Car station information

Compare the route you will use in both directions

A visitor who likes walking may prefer the Boardwalk on arrival and another option after a long day. If you buy a cable car product, read the current ticket terms before assuming you can purchase or use just one segment. Keep the journey after dinner in the comparison, especially if you are travelling with children or someone who needs a shorter walk. Cable Car operator FAQs

Walk in from VivoCity by the Sentosa Boardwalk

Sentosa lists free pedestrian entry via the Boardwalk from VivoCity. Follow the signs to the Boardwalk from the mall’s waterfront side. This route works when your group wants a walk and your first stop is convenient from the island end. Check the surface route, any diversions and the weather before committing. A walk that feels comfortable early in the day can be less appealing after several hours outside. Sentosa Discovery Guide, May 2026

Use the Boardwalk when the last leg makes sense

Look up how far the walk continues beyond the island entrance. If you have bags, a stroller or a timed ticket, allow time for the additional stretch. In wet weather, check both the covered sections and the outdoor approach to your destination. If conditions are unsuitable, choose the transport alternative while you are still in VivoCity.

Take the Sentosa Express from VivoCity Level 3

Sentosa’s guide lists the Express boarding point at VivoCity, Lobby L, Level 3. The line serves Resorts World, Imbiah and Beach stations on the island. Use the station recommended for your actual venue. Check the current fare, service hours and any concession terms before leaving. Sentosa Discovery Guide

Choose the station by the next part of the journey

Check the exit and the walk or connection after leaving the train. If you are meeting someone, agree on the station and a named point beyond it. A ticket to an attraction and the transport you use to reach it have separate conditions. Save both before you go, particularly if a timed activity is the main reason for the visit.

Take the Cable Car if you want the ride itself

The Mount Faber Line connects Mount Faber, HarbourFront and Sentosa. The Sentosa Line is a separate line on the island. Check which line and stations your ticket covers and allow time to change between them if needed. From HarbourFront MRT, the operator directs passengers towards HarbourFront Tower 2 and publishes a pedestrian diversion from Exit B. Follow the current signs and operator updates. Check weather and access before you build the day around it

Look up the operator’s current service, last boarding and any access requirements. If you need a lift, wheelchair access or help with a stroller, confirm the boarding details with the operator. Keep the Express or a road option available if the ride is unavailable. A ticketed experience works best when there is enough room to change the route without losing another reservation.

Plan the return before you enter the island

Write down where you expect to finish and the useful station, walk or pickup for that part of the island. Check the last useful connection to your next destination. If you plan to return by road, save the exact pickup location and check current entry or vehicle charges. Give a family or group enough time to walk out, find a lift and gather everyone before leaving.

Worked example for a beach day

A group plans to start around the beach and finish with dinner on the mainland. They check Beach Station and the route to the exact beach, then compare the Express with a scenic ride that may end farther from their first stop. They save the mainland dinner route and allow time for the final island connection. If heavy rain develops, they keep an indoor meal option or return earlier.

When to use a different return route

A group that walked in can decide near the end of the outing whether the walk back still suits everyone. If the final activity ends close to Beach Station, check the Express and the transfer to HarbourFront. If someone needs a direct drop-off, compare a lawful pickup and its current terms. Keep the chosen route simple enough to use after a tiring day.

Section 7 of 9 · Back to contents

Compare transport with the attraction ticket

Before buying anything, list the transport fare, island entry arrangement and admission to the attraction separately. A ticket for a venue does not necessarily include the route you choose to get there. If you use a package, check the included direction and any restrictions before changing the return plan. For a family, compare the total cost and walking for the people who will actually travel, including any applicable child terms.

If you are bringing several bags

Start with the venue or hotel’s drop-off instructions. Check whether a vehicle can go where you need it and how to reach the entrance from the stop. For a same-day outing after checking out, consider a confirmed luggage arrangement before going to the island. A direct first leg is easier to use when you know what happens to the bags at the other end.
