Hoya House at Singapore Botanic Gardens | Opening Hours, Map and What to See

Singapore Botanic Gardens sign at Bukit Timah Gate, beside the entrance plaza.

Hoya House at Singapore Botanic Gardens is listed as open from 7am to 7pm. Look for it beside Frangipani Garden in the Bandstand area. Napier MRT is a practical starting point for a visit focused on this part of the Gardens. Download the official map and pin Hoya House as the destination.

NParks describes a collection of more than 70 lowland Hoya species and cultivars. Some plants may be in flower during your visit, while others are easiest to appreciate for their leaves and climbing growth. Allow a little time to read the labels and compare a few plants.

  • Hours · 7am to 7pm on the official visitor page.
  • Map landmark · Frangipani Garden and the Bandstand area.
  • MRT choice · Napier for this part of the Gardens. Botanic Gardens MRT works for a longer walk from the Bukit Timah side.
  • Nearby pairing · Frangipani Garden for an easy extension, or the separately timed National Orchid Garden for a longer visit.

Find Hoya House on the official map

Open the Singapore Botanic Gardens map before setting off. Search for Hoya House and keep Frangipani Garden and the Bandstand in view as landmarks. The Gardens have multiple entrances, so give companions the attraction name and an agreed gate.

Coming from Napier MRT

Use the Gardens’ Tanglin entrance area and follow the map inland toward the Bandstand and Frangipani Garden. If someone in the group needs a route with fewer slopes, check the official map and ask Gardens staff for the current approach.

Coming from Botanic Gardens MRT

You enter from the Bukit Timah side. Keep this option if you also plan to explore the northern end, or if the Circle or Downtown Line makes the overall journey easier. Build in extra walking time before the collection closes.

Check Hoya House hours before an evening visit

The Gardens’ visitor page gives Hoya House its own 7am to 7pm opening window. Use that schedule for the plant collection even if the surrounding paths have a later closing time. Start with the collection if you are coming late in the day, then continue outdoors if conditions permit.

Check the Gardens’ notices before leaving. If a path is diverted or you arrive during a downpour, give the walk more time or choose another day. Keep the destination pin handy so you can rejoin the route when you reach an open path.

See what is growing, even between blooms

Look at one labelled plant before moving through the rest of the collection. Compare the shape of its leaves and how its stem grows against another specimen. If a cluster is in bloom, see whether you can distinguish the individual flowers without touching them.

An easy activity for children

Pick two labelled plants. Ask a child to sketch one leaf from each and note one difference. If there are flowers, add their shapes or colours to the sketch. Older children can copy each plant’s label and look up where it grows after the visit.

Photograph the plant and its label

If you want to identify a specimen later, take one picture of its label and another of the plant. Stand clear of the path when stopping for a close view and keep stems where they are.

Pair it with a second garden

Frangipani Garden gives you a contrasting collection nearby. NParks groups frangipanis, hoyas and the Sun Garden plants under the same plant family, Apocynaceae. Looking at a woody frangipani and a climbing hoya on the same visit makes it easier to see how different related plants can appear.

For a visit that also includes the National Orchid Garden, check that attraction’s admission and final entry time separately. If your group mainly came for Hoya House, see it first and decide on the longer route afterward. A short visit with one nearby stop is enough to compare the two collections.
