If you are finishing a diploma at a Singapore polytechnic and applying to the National University of Singapore (NUS) for Academic Year 2027–2028, check the university’s local polytechnic diploma instructions before waiting for your final transcript. NUS says students completing their diplomas in 2027 can apply with results from the first five semesters. It also describes a route for eligible graduating students who only have four semesters of results because of arrangements such as a final-year project or internship. The remaining results must still be submitted.
If you are an international student, start with the category for your actual qualification and check the additional instructions that apply to your status. An application based on interim results can lead to an offer contingent on submitting final results as proof that you completed the diploma. Put the application deadline, diploma completion and later submission on separate lines.
- Match the intake and qualification category to your records.
- Check which semester results you can use to submit the application.
- Confirm whether your diploma meets the degree programme’s prerequisites.
- Set a reminder to submit final results through the required channel.
- Read any offer conditions and international-student instructions separately.
Check the intake and the number of results you have
Use the university page for your intended academic year. NUS lists 2 August 2027 as the commencement of AY2027–2028 for its diploma completion eligibility requirement. If your internship, project or transcript schedule is unusual, ask your polytechnic when you will complete the diploma and when it will issue the results. Then ask NUS which submission instructions apply.
Count the semesters shown on the official results record. If five are available, check how to submit them. If four are available because of your course structure, use the current instructions for that case and note which results remain outstanding. The option to apply earlier and the requirement to complete the qualification are separate.

Check the degree programme as well as the application category
List each degree you are considering and identify any prerequisites or additional assessment. Check whether the programme accepts your diploma and whether it requires specific subjects, an interview, a test or other information. An application category tells you how to apply. Programme requirements tell you what the degree expects.
Keep a copy of the official instructions for the intake. Ask about any module or qualification description that does not match the terminology on the university page. Give the exact diploma title and the relevant subject or module rather than assuming that similarly named qualifications are treated alike.

Track your final-results submission after applying
Ask the polytechnic when final results and evidence of completion will become available. Save the official application reference and use the university’s submission route for updates. If the expected date changes, contact the admissions office with the new date and any outstanding condition. Ask which evidence it accepts at that point.
If you receive an offer, read the course name, response deadline and all conditions together. Make one list for accepting or replying and another for completing outstanding requirements. International students should also read the university’s enrolment and immigration instructions once available. Keep those dates separate from the academic evidence submission.

Worked example
A final-year student is on internship and has four semesters of results at application time. They check NUS’s published rule for the 2027 intake and confirm with the polytechnic when their final two semesters will be reported. They apply using the permitted results and put the outstanding submission in their calendar.
The student also compares the requirements of two degrees. One has an additional assessment, so they follow that programme’s instructions. If an offer arrives, they check what proof of diploma completion is required before treating their academic conditions as satisfied.
