Singapore to Batam or Bintan by Ferry: A Checklist for Both Terminals

Check both terminal names on your ferry ticket. Singapore sailings can use Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront or Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. In Indonesia, Batam has several passenger terminals, and a Bintan resort ferry can arrive at a different port from a ferry to Tanjung Pinang. Match the actual destination port to your hotel or pickup before buying. BatamFast timetable Bintan Resort Ferries bookings

A useful booking note includes the Singapore departure terminal, the Indonesian arrival port, the return ports, each time zone and the operator’s reporting deadline. The current HarbourFront terminal is at 5 HarbourFront Avenue. Older references may point to the former building inside HarbourFront Centre. Singapore Cruise Centre HarbourFront terminal

  • Ask the hotel, resort or driver which Indonesian ferry port suits the destination.
  • Match the exact operator, sailing date and terminals in both directions.
  • Check which time zone each departure or arrival uses.
  • Check Indonesia’s entry requirements and your return to Singapore.
  • Allow time for ferry check-in, bag handling, border checks and the road transfer.

Start with where you want to go after getting off the ferry

For a Batam trip, look up your hotel, appointment or first outing, then ask which port has the best onward route. Operator timetables list ports such as Batam Centre and Sekupang as distinct destinations. Compare them as separate door-to-door journeys. A fare or departure that looks convenient in Singapore can be less useful if the car journey at the other end is long. BatamFast routes and timetable

If you are going to a Bintan resort

Ask the property for its recommended arrival terminal, how transfers are booked and whether the transfer is tied to a particular sailing. Bintan Resort Ferries lists sailings between Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Bandar Bentan Telani. A booking to Tanjung Pinang serves a different arrival point. Confirm which one your resort or planned driver expects. Bintan Resort Ferries booking and ports

If you are visiting for a short meeting or lunch

Choose an arrival port with a straightforward road transfer to the venue and check the journey back to the return port. If the group plans to split, send the exact name of the return terminal and the reporting time to everyone. An Indonesian city or island name on its own does not identify where to board.

Confirm the Singapore terminal and the building

HarbourFront and Tanah Merah are separate departure points. Check the operator’s current schedule for the specific sailing, even if you have used the same operator before. The current Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront is at 5 HarbourFront Avenue, near the old site. The terminal operator publishes directions from the MRT and facilities available inside. Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront

Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal needs its own route

Use “Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, 50 Tanah Merah Ferry Road, Singapore 498833” when planning the trip. Singapore Cruise Centre terminal addresses Entering a nearby MRT station or another place with Tanah Merah in its name can leave you with an unplanned last leg. Check the terminal operator’s directions and the time needed to reach the entrance. If you are coming from Changi, include time to enter Singapore, collect baggage and get to the ferry terminal before the operator’s cutoff. Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal

Save each leg as a separate line

Write “outbound” and “return” above the actual ports and dates. Put the reporting time next to the departure time. Add the onward driver or resort transfer contact where you can open it offline. Where a ticket uses a short port code, check the full terminal name with the ferry operator before booking a ride.

Read the timetable in the correct time zone

Singapore is one hour ahead of Batam and Bintan. Check the time-zone labels on both directions of the timetable before you book or arrange a driver. A time shown on the Indonesian side of the booking may be local Indonesian time. Make each appointment or pickup clear by naming both the location and time zone. A simple return example

If a ticket says the ferry leaves Indonesia at 5 pm local time, that departure is at 6 pm in Singapore. Work from 5 pm when deciding when to leave the resort and report to the Indonesian port. Work from the operator’s Singapore arrival estimate when arranging an onward meeting in Singapore. Avoid adding the ferry’s journey time to a clock reading without accounting for the time zone.

Prepare for Indonesian entry and your return to Singapore

Check passport and visa requirements with the Indonesian authorities for each person and the port you will use. Indonesia’s All Indonesia service covers the arrival declaration for international passengers at seaports as well as airports. Use the official service and keep the confirmation accessible. Treat the declaration and any visa requirement as separate checks. Indonesia arrival declaration guidance All Indonesia official service

Check Singapore again before the return

Your ferry return is an entry into Singapore. Check whether you need the SG Arrival Card and which other requirements apply to your passport and circumstances. Keep the relevant itinerary and accommodation or onward details available. A visitor who returns by sea should use ICA’s rules for that arrival. ICA entering Singapore guidance

Check bags and reporting with the ferry operator

Allow time for check-in, any baggage drop and immigration before boarding. Ask about bulky items, strollers or equipment and follow the operator’s directions for any assistance needed. A ferry e-ticket can be one part of the check-in process. Confirm how the operator issues the boarding pass and where to go for help if your documents or bags need manual processing. Protect your return and onward plans

Keep a clear return cutoff and a plan to get to the Indonesian port. Check whether any activity or meal would make you depend on the last practical transfer. If you are heading to the airport after returning to Singapore, include time to disembark, clear immigration, collect bags, reach Changi and meet the airline’s requirements. A ferry and a separately booked flight have their own deadlines. Ask each operator what happens if a delay changes your plans.

Section 6 of 8 · Back to contents

Make the connection realistic on both sides

If you land at Changi and sail the same day

Start from the ferry operator’s latest reporting instructions. Add time for leaving the plane, entry checks, baggage and getting to the exact ferry terminal. If the two tickets were booked separately, check what happens if your flight is late. A route that looks short from one airport terminal can still be tight once the other tasks are included.

If you are taking a resort transfer

Send the booking details to the property and check that its response names the right arrival port. Ask where to meet the driver and what to do if a sailing changes. For the return, confirm the hotel pickup against the ferry reporting time in the Indonesian time zone. Keep the driver’s instructions available offline.

If your sailing is changed

Ask the operator to confirm the departure and arrival terminals along with the new time. Then update the hotel or driver and any onward booking. If your travel date changes, check the timing of arrival declarations and accommodation. A new ticket time can affect more than the ferry segment.
