Additional Mathematics often feels much harder than E-Math because it raises the demand on symbolic control and abstraction. A student may cope in E-Math with familiar procedures, but A-Math requires stronger algebra, more flexible manipulation, faster recognition of structures, and more independent choice of method.
This means a learner can be competent in E-Math and still struggle when algebraic foundations are not automatic enough for the heavier symbolic load. The useful response is not to memorise more A-Math steps blindly, but to identify which algebraic operations, functions, equations, or transformations are slowing the system down and strengthen them directly.
