1) Entity

ENTITY: Civilisation
TYPE: Regenerative capability system
DOMAIN: Time (not territory)
DEFINITION:
Civilisation = a time-continuous system that regenerates human capability,
roles, knowledge, and coordination faster than they decay.
NOTE:
Infrastructure, money, territory, and artefacts are outputs.
They are not the definition of civilisation.

2) Core State Variable

STATE VARIABLE: C(t)
MEANING: Effective civilisation capability at time t
UNIT: Regenerative throughput (not physical assets)

3) Rate-Dominance Law (Collapse is a rate inequality)

Let:
R(t) = regeneration rate of capability
D(t) = decay / loss rate of capability
LAW:
If R(t) ≥ D(t) → civilisation persists
If R(t) < D(t) → civilisation enters collapse trajectory
INTERPRETATION:
“Causes” (war, disease, climate, money, policy) are forcing terms.
Collapse is determined by the inequality, not the story.

4) HRL (Human Regenerative Lattice)

SUBSYSTEM: HRL (Human Regenerative Lattice)
ROLE: Core regenerative engine of civilisation
HRL consists of:
- humans
- roles
- skills
- norms
- durable cultural memory
- transmission pipelines (education, apprenticeship, institutions)
- coordination interfaces (rules, schedules, governance)
RULE:
Civilisation collapse is primarily HRL failure:
role extinction + pipeline breakage + coordination overload.

5) Civλ (Civilisation Decay Constant)

PARAMETER: Civλ
MEANING: Effective irreversible loss rate of regenerative capability
(organ/pipeline extinction rate; not asset depreciation)
Civλ increases when:
- roles disappear faster than they are replenished
- training pipelines break (no replacement generation)
- coordination cost rises beyond human throughput
- load paths concentrate (brittleness increases)

6) Stability Condition (Canonical)

CivY&Y(t) = regeneration-to-balance response (repair + recovery throughput)
STABILITY CONDITION:
CivY&Y(t) ≥ Civλ · C(t)
If violated:
- drift into instability accelerates
- hidden fragility grows
- collapse mode becomes a matter of time + shocks

7) Phase Reliability States (P0–P3)

PHASE STATES:
P0 = non-functional / collapse
P1 = fragile / unstable
P2 = functional under normal load
P3 = robust under variation, stress, and time pressure
RULE:
Survival requires ≥ P2 in core pipelines.
Complex civilisation requires P3 in core pipelines.

8) Zoom Ladder (Z0–Z6)

ZOOM LEVELS:
Z0 = individual / role execution
Z1 = household / small team
Z2 = institution / organisation
Z3 = city / society / nation
Z4 = multi-nation system / region
Z5 = country surface directory layer (indexing layer)
Z6 = supranational organisations / standards layer
PROPAGATION RULE:
Unrepaired failure propagates upward (Z0 → Z2 → Z3).
Repair is cheapest and fastest at lower Z.

9) Collapse Modes (Complete Set)

COLLAPSE MODES:
I Amplitude / KO collapse
- large instantaneous node deletion (catastrophic shock)
II Slow attrition collapse
- D(t) slowly exceeds R(t); long hollowing and capability loss
III Fast attrition / war collapse
- D(t) violently exceeds R(t); rapid systemic failure
RULE:
All narratives of collapse reduce to these three envelopes.

10) Brittleness Law (Over-concentration)

BRITTLENESS LAW:
Civilisations become brittle when too much regenerative mass
(people, roles, funding, prestige, pipelines) is packed into too few lanes.
Result:
- slack decreases
- pathway redundancy decreases
- single shocks cut through core organs
- cascade probability rises

11) External Forcing Terms (Arrows)

EXTERNAL FORCING TERMS (examples):
- war
- disease
- climate stress
- finance constraints
- infrastructure loss
- policy shocks
RULE:
Forcing terms change slopes and trigger fractures.
They are not the root definition of collapse.

12) Recovery Operations (Repair Physics)

RECOVERY OPS:
- Truncation = early cut-off of accelerating failure regime
- Stitching = regeneration catches up after truncation to rejoin safe band
- ΔAd = adaptation (structural change in coupling/routing/pipelines)

RULE:
Recovery is structural repair of HRL pipelines + load paths,
not morale, not slogans.

13) Minimum Viable Civilisation Kernel (MVC)

MVC KERNEL (conditional minimum for any “civilisation”):

- rules that outlive individuals
- surplus/buffers
- role continuity (replacement pipelines)
RULE:
There is no absolute minimum population.
There is only a conditional minimum for a given complexity.

- wealth
- technology
- monuments
- infrastructure
NON-CONFUSION RULE:
Loss of outputs ≠ civilisation collapse.
Loss of regeneration capability (HRL failure) = collapse.
