I Can Do Practice Questions but Unseen Questions Defeat Me — What Should I Fix?

If you can do familiar practice questions but unseen questions defeat you, the missing skill is often transfer. Repetition can make one question type feel fluent without teaching you how to recognise the same underlying idea when the surface changes. Unseen questions expose whether you understand the structure or only the template.

Practise variation deliberately. Mix question types, change the wording, compare similar-looking problems that require different methods, and explain why a chosen approach fits before solving. The goal is to train recognition and adaptation, not merely faster repetition of one familiar pattern.

Use the Study & Learning Methods Hub for transfer and interleaving, and the Examinations & Assessment Hub when unseen-question performance is mainly an exam-readiness issue.
