Memorising is useful, but it is rarely enough for an exam by itself. You may need facts, formulas, vocabulary, definitions, or procedures in memory, yet the paper usually also asks you to recognise what matters, choose an approach, apply knowledge, explain reasoning, and adapt when the question looks unfamiliar.
Use memory as the floor, not the whole building. After memorising, practise retrieval without prompts, mixed questions, explanations in your own words, and unfamiliar applications. If the knowledge cannot move into a new question, it is not yet ready for examination use.
