My Child Has Lost Confidence in School — What Should I Do?

If your child has lost confidence in school, do not treat confidence as something that can be restored by reassurance alone. First find out what changed. Confidence often falls after repeated failure, unclear feedback, a difficult transition, comparison with stronger peers, or work that has become too hard to control.

The repair is to rebuild evidence of competence. Identify one area where the child can succeed with the right support, make the task small enough to understand, practise until the improvement is real, and let that success become visible. Confidence grows more reliably from accurate success than from pressure to “believe in yourself.”

Start with the Diagnostics & Recovery Hub to find the source of the loss of control. For broader learning and study support, use the Student & Learner Hub.
