Do not decide between reducing the workload and pushing harder until you know what kind of difficulty the child is experiencing. Some struggle is productive and should be worked through. Other struggle comes from a missing foundation, unclear teaching, or a total load that has exceeded the child’s present capacity.
Look for the pattern. If the child improves with explanation and practice, the challenge may be appropriate. If the same prerequisite failure keeps blocking new work, repair that foundation instead of increasing pressure. If concentration, sleep, recovery, and performance are all deteriorating across several areas, the total workload deserves review rather than another demand to push through.
