Bukit Gombak 2027: what residents need to know
Bukit Gombak residents should not assume Jurong Region Line Stage 1 trains will operate in 2027. LTA revised its target to around mid-2028. Interim JRL shuttle buses are planned for the second half of 2027, but their exact stops, operating hours and commencement date need later official confirmation.
Why the dates matter
A construction milestone is not the same as a public operating day. A family arranging a January 2027 school journey must use existing bus and MRT services. A future shuttle is worth monitoring, but not a confirmed option until LTA publishes its operating details.
Current transport
Bukit Gombak MRT already serves the North–South Line. Compare the complete journey from home to the destination, including walking, waiting, transfers and the final leg. The best route can change between the morning peak and weekends.
What to check about interim buses
LTA said in September 2026 that interim JRL shuttle buses would be introduced from the second half of 2027. Check the confirmed service number, stops, frequency, first and last trips and how it connects to the existing network. Do not infer that every future rail station will have an identical bus stop.
School and family travel
Parents should test the actual route to the school gate, with a wet-weather alternative and enough buffer for peak-hour conditions. A new transport service may eventually help, but it should not be the condition that makes a 2027 school placement workable.
Accessibility and safety
Check the entire route for ramps, lifts, crossings and shelter. Follow temporary site signs around construction and report blocked pedestrian routes to the relevant agency. Do not enter fenced work areas.
