Bukit Gombak Park | 108 Steps, Butterfly Garden and Hill Trek Guide

Bukit Gombak Park offers a hill trek with a 400m uphill loop and a flight of 108 steps, alongside a butterfly garden, nature-inspired play area and dog run. NParks locates the park along Bukit Batok West Avenue 5, opposite Bukit Batok Driving Centre.

The 4.8-hectare park is listed as open 24 hours and wheelchair accessible. That access listing should be distinguished from the stepped hill trek: choose the actual route that fits your group rather than assuming every attraction has the same approach.

For a first visit, decide between the climb, a gentler park visit or a family play stop. You can enjoy one part properly without trying to use every feature in a single outing.

CHAPTER 1 OF 4

1. Decide whether the hill trek is today’s outing

Back to contents

The official description gives the climb a concrete scale: a short loop with a substantial flight of steps. Consider how that effort will feel to each person before setting off.

Choose a pace with room to pause, and keep enough energy for the return. A child who enjoys the first steps may still need encouragement and rest later; an adult may prefer another part of the park entirely.

The 400m figure describes the trek, not your entire journey from transport. Include the approach and any other park sections when estimating the outing.

CHAPTER 2 OF 4

2. Enjoy the butterfly garden patiently

Back to contents

NParks identifies the butterfly garden as supporting more than 20 butterfly species. A quiet visit gives you a better opportunity to observe than moving quickly with a checklist of expected sightings.

Look for movement around the planting and give an insect time to settle. Photograph from the public path rather than stepping into beds or handling wildlife for a closer view.

Children can practise describing what they see: colour, pattern or movement. You do not need to know a species name immediately to have made a careful observation.

CHAPTER 3 OF 4

3. Choose a different route for different needs

Back to contents

The playground and dog run offer other reasons to visit, but their use needs its own checks. Read the current signs and select equipment or activity suitable for the people and animals with you.

If step-free access is required, plan a verified route that does not depend on the hill’s staircase. Check the official map and current access information before promising a particular viewpoint.

This is Bukit Gombak Park, a separate destination from Bukit Batok Town Park and its quarry setting. Keep the full park name in your saved directions.

CHAPTER 4 OF 4

4. Parking and the practical finish

Back to contents

The entrance car park is listed with 18 car spaces, six motorcycle spaces and one accessible space; parking fees apply. Check the current payment information and do not assume a space will be available.

Bukit Gombak MRT is listed as a nearby station. Use a current map for the final approach rather than treating ‘nearby’ as a precise walking time.

Bring water, check weather and current notices, and choose a comfortable return. The larger Bukit Batok guide can help with another outing; the hill, garden or play area can each be enough today.
