A Mizhi family should choose an English tutor by checking whether a learner can distinguish a prepared plan from an approved plan. Knowing ‘ready’ and ‘approved’ separately is not enough if the student assumes that preparation means completion.
This guide concerns Mizhi (米脂县), Yulin, Shaanxi, for searches including 米脂县英语老师怎么选, 米脂县中考英语 and 米脂县英语辅导. eduKate is a Singapore education publisher and tuition provider; it does not offer in-person tutoring in Mizhi.
Begin with the learner’s independent work
Bring a marked school answer, a short unassisted paragraph and an age-appropriate listening response. A missed word, unheard clause, mistaken inference or unclear writing can lead to the same mark. Ask the teacher to identify one unstable skill before proposing lessons; school and home resources may suffice.
Why Mizhi provides a meaningful context
Mizhi County is part of Yulin, with agricultural and cultural traditions. A fictional school-poster notice makes sequence and approval language accessible without inventing product certification or real event permissions.
Original worked English diagnostic
Fictional classroom text: “The exhibition posters are ready, but they will be displayed only after the organisers approve the final layout.”
- What is ready?
- Are the posters already displayed?
- What must happen before display?
- Write an accurate update without claiming that the exhibition is open.
Supported answer: The posters are prepared but not displayed. Display depends on approval of the final layout. ‘Ready’ does not mean ‘approved’ or ‘displayed’.
Find the underlying error
If the child equates ready with displayed, teach stages using a timeline. If print succeeds but audio fails, practise listening to conditions. If the timeline is understood but the response uses the wrong tense, teach precise status writing.
Read the passage aloud before showing it. Record the student’s first independent response and ask for the exact supporting phrase. Teach the missing relationship, practise briefly and remove hints. Do not mistake a copied model answer for independent understanding.
Check transfer using a new example
Second fictional text: “The class finished its presentation, but it will be uploaded only after the teacher checks the citations.”
Ask for a new answer without the first model, then retest after several days. The goal is independent transfer, not repetition.
The 2026 local examination and admissions context
The 2026 Yulin Education Examinations Institute announcement, republished in July lists Mizhi’s ordinary-high-school control line as 537 and comprehensive-high-school class line as 485, with 17–19 July preference filing. These figures are historical minimum controls, not English marks or guaranteed admission. Verify current cohort and school requirements with the Yulin Education Bureau and the student’s school.
The junior-secondary zhongkao and senior-secondary gaokao are different. General and vocational senior-secondary routes have distinct requirements. Confirm the actual English written, listening and any oral components for the student’s school and cohort. No tutor can guarantee admission or a precise score increase.
Choose teaching by stage
Primary pupils can use a class-poster story. Junior-secondary learners need listening and inference. General senior-secondary students need gaokao-aligned reading and writing. Vocational learners may need process updates, while university learners need accurate research-status reporting.
- Primary: reading enjoyment, phonics where needed, stories and retelling.
- Junior secondary: listening, inference, grammar in context and writing aligned to the current local cohort.
- General senior secondary: extended reading and structured writing for the applicable gaokao programme.
- Vocational secondary: practical instructions and customer communication.
- University: research reading, evidence and presentations.
- Work: anonymised real messages, accurate qualifiers and professional tone.
Singapore’s Primary/PSLE, Secondary, ITE, polytechnic, junior college and university routes are overseas comparisons or possible destinations only, not mainland Chinese school stages.
A four-week learning-continuity plan
- Week 1: collect independent listening, reading and writing; identify one unstable skill.
- Week 2: explain the principle from first principles and practise with feedback.
- Week 3: change the context, interleave earlier skills and remove hints.
- Week 4: check delayed independent transfer and decide whether further lawful tuition is necessary.
Trade-offs in choosing support
A targeted school explanation may solve a narrow error. Compare lawful tuition options on independent progress, travel, fatigue and fees, not a promised score.
A lawful small group may support peer discussion if every student participates and receives specific feedback. Individual teaching may target a persistent gap but costs more. Compare school support, travel, fatigue, timetable, total fees and independently demonstrated progress.
Questions before paying
- What exact error did you identify in the student’s independent work?
- How do you distinguish listening, vocabulary, inference and written organisation?
- Can you teach one principle and test an unfamiliar passage without hints?
- Which current local examination and school-year notice applies?
- What independent improvement should be visible after two to four weeks?
- Can we verify the provider’s licence, authorised age and subject, mode and hours, and tutor qualifications?
- Can we inspect fees, written contract, payment safeguards and refunds?
Double Reduction: check legal permission
China’s Ministry of Education academic-subject classification includes compulsory-school English. The 2021 Double Reduction policy restricts off-campus academic lessons, including prohibited rest-day, holiday and vacation teaching. Home, one-to-one, online, overseas and ‘conversation club’ labels are not automatic exemptions. Check the competent local education authority’s current public directory and national supervision platform for actual licence, subject and age scope, permitted mode and hours, qualifications, fees, contract and refunds. Do not enrol in prohibited or unlicensed tutoring.
Questions families ask
- Does prepared mean displayed? No.
- Can a tutor guarantee admission above a control line? No.
- What should a trial show? An independent answer to a new passage.
