Lentor Vale Playground is a named neighbourhood stop to consider for a short family outdoor break. The official page describes a small park with play and exercise facilities, giving a modest basis for deciding whether it fits the day.
This guide keeps the destination precise and leaves room to adapt. It does not combine different Lentor-named playgrounds into one itinerary or promise an entrance, parking arrangement or equipment item that has not been verified.
The optional home activity explores a useful distinction in age questions: the difference between two ages can stay fixed while their ratio changes. The characters and ages are fictional, and the activity does not involve comparing children using the playground.

NParks locates Lentor Vale Playground along Lentor Vale towards Lentor Way. Its description lists a playground and exercise corner, with 24-hour opening. These directory details were checked on 17 October 2026; the guide is not a new on-site condition report.
Use the official page’s navigation option to check your destination and approach. The directional wording helps identify the listing but does not certify a gate, crossing, parking space or step-free journey.
Keep the full playground name in view. Shared Lentor wording does not make separate park entries interchangeable. This guide does not supply a continuous route between them or assume that their equipment and amenities are identical.

A small outdoor break can have a simple purpose: movement, a change of surroundings or some time together. There is no need to add a second destination or a long educational task to make the visit worthwhile.
Check current information and essential practical details before departure. At the intended site, follow signs and assess equipment suitability from the actual conditions. A broad directory description does not establish age guidance for every individual item, and published hours are not a guarantee of current availability.
If the child is tired or the activity does not suit, shorten the plan. The age-question activity below works on paper at home and can be left for another day. Play does not have to become a comparison of speed, strength or school performance.
Imagine two story characters, Nila and Omar, whose exact ages at a chosen reference moment are six and ten years. The difference is four years. The model treats both ages as increasing by the same elapsed amount of time.
These are invented characters, not children observed at the playground. There is no need to ask other families for ages or compare what children of different ages can do. The activity is about two mathematical relationships, not development or ability.
Ask the learner to write both the difference and the ratio at the start. Ten minus six gives four years. Nila’s age to Omar’s age is 6:10, or 3:5. The difference and the ratio answer different questions and should keep their labels.
Two years after the chosen moment, the fictional ages are eight and twelve. The difference remains four because both ages increased by two: (10 + 2) − (6 + 2) = 4.
The shared increase cancels when the difference is taken. More generally, (10 + t) − (6 + t) = 4 for the elapsed times in this model. The letter t counts the same elapsed years for both people.
This is the stable relationship in the question. It does not mean that either age is unchanged. Ask the child to say what stayed the same and what changed: both ages changed, while the gap stayed fixed. Precise wording protects the distinction.
At the reference moment, Nila:Omar is 6:10 = 3:5. Two years later it is 8:12 = 2:3. The four-year difference remains, but the ratio has changed. Adding equal quantities is not the same operation as multiplying both ratio entries by the same factor.
Six years after the reference moment, the ages are twelve and sixteen, giving 3:4. Check both relationships again: sixteen minus twelve is four, while twelve:sixteen simplifies to three:four.
The table uses exact fictional ages at specified moments. It is not a comparison of real children’s birthdays or development. Ask the learner to explain why keeping the old 3:5 ratio after adding two years would describe a different pair of ages.
| Fictional reference time | Nila / Omar ages | Difference; Nila:Omar |
|---|---|---|
| Chosen starting moment | 6 / 10 years | 4 years; 3:5 |
| 2 years later | 8 / 12 years | 4 years; 2:3 |
| 6 years later | 12 / 16 years | 4 years; 3:4 |
Starting with six and ten, multiplying both by two produces twelve and twenty. The ratio stays 3:5, but the difference becomes eight. This is a scaling operation on the numbers, not what happens when two people simply live through the same additional six years.
In the elapsed-time model, six additional years produces twelve and sixteen, not twelve and twenty. The two operations preserve different relationships: equal addition preserves the difference, while common positive multiplication preserves the ratio.
An older child can compare the two operations algebraically. A younger child can use two rows of counters and add the same small number to each. Keep the explanation focused on the operation, rather than memorising a rule that every age problem must be solved in one particular way.
If the learner maintains 3:5 two years later, ask them to write the actual ages before simplifying a ratio. If they say the gap grows because both ages grow, subtract the two updated values. If the values are correct but simplification is wrong, practise that fraction or ratio skill separately.
These are different difficulties. Keep one original attempt and try changed fictional starting ages later. The useful sign is an independent explanation of which operation occurred and which relationship it preserves.
The linked eduKateSG Secondary 1 Mathematics guide offers an optional continuation on ratios, algebra and clear checking. This informal task is not an assessment of a real child’s age-related ability or a reason by itself to add tuition. The guide establishes no local teaching branch or park programme.

What is officially listed?
A playground and exercise corner along Lentor Vale towards Lentor Way. Check current conditions and individual instructions before use.
Does this guide cover other Lentor playgrounds?
No. Match the full named entry. No multi-park circuit, route length or shared equipment inventory is supplied.
Are the ages taken from visitors?
No. Nila and Omar are fictional characters. No personal information or comparisons of actual children are needed.
What stays fixed in the age model?
When both ages increase by the same elapsed time, their difference stays fixed. Their ratio generally changes, so the two relationships should be checked separately.
