Things to do near Expo MRT today, Saturday 7 November 2026: visit the Asia Pacific Food Expo 2026 at Singapore EXPO Hall 4, running 6–9 November, 11am–9pm, with free public admission; explore Changi City Point for outlet shopping or a meal; or attend the Singapore Cat Festival at Hall 6 on 7–8 November, 10am–8pm with a ticketed admission. Expo MRT (CG1/DT35) connects the Changi Airport branch of the East–West Line and the Downtown Line. Singapore EXPO is at 1 Expo Drive, and Changi City Point is a separate mall at 5 Changi Business Park Central 1.
Choose your event before leaving the station: the EXPO’s ordinary building hours of 8am–10pm do not mean every hall is open free to every visitor. The Asia Pacific Food Expo is explicitly listed as free entry, but the Cat Festival has paid ticketing, and concerts at Arena @ EXPO or Apex @ EXPO require their own tickets. On the current schedule, Mega Beauty Festival runs 6–9 November in Hall 5B, with event-specific terms to verify. Changi City Point is usually open 10am–10pm, but its weekend shuttle bus service ceased after 26 July 2026; don’t rely on old shuttle timetables. A free visit can be as simple as one public food fair plus a comfortable meal or mall browse.
Quick visitor information:
- MRT: Expo CG1/DT35, Downtown Line plus East–West Line airport branch.
- Singapore EXPO: 1 Expo Drive, Singapore 486150; general building hours 8am–10pm, event times differ.
- Free event 6–9 November: Asia Pacific Food Expo, Hall 4, 11am–9pm, public free admission.
- Ticketed event 7–8 November: Singapore Cat Festival, Hall 6, 10am–8pm, ticketed admission.
- Another current fair: Mega Beauty Festival, Hall 5B, 6–9 November; check its exact admission conditions.
- November concert dates: JOJI, 21–22 Nov; LE SSERAFIM, 28 Nov; FKJ, 29 Nov—ticketed events, not free public fairs.
- December events: Sgcarmart CARnival 5–6 Dec and Asia TCM & Wellness Expo 4–6 Dec; always check the organiser’s event entry rules.
- Nearby mall: Changi City Point, 5 Changi Business Park Central 1, generally 10am–10pm.
- Shuttle update: Changi City Point’s weekend shuttle ceased after 26 July 2026.
- Rail distinction: Changi Airport CG2 is one station beyond Expo on the airport branch, not the same place as the exhibition halls.

Decide between an event, a concert and a shopping visit
Expo is different from an MRT stop beside a permanent museum or park. Its main draw changes week to week. One hall might host a free consumer fair while another contains a ticketed performance, corporate meeting or trade-only exhibition. The building has a fixed address, but the public experiences inside it are scheduled.
| What you want | Choose | Essential check |
|---|---|---|
| Free food fair this weekend | Asia Pacific Food Expo, Hall 4 | 6–9 Nov, 11am–9pm |
| Cat-themed exhibition | Singapore Cat Festival, Hall 6 | 7–8 Nov, paid ticket |
| Beauty product fair | Mega Beauty Festival, Hall 5B | Current admission and programme |
| Major live performance | Arena or Apex at EXPO | Ticket, hall and security gate |
| Ordinary retail and food | Changi City Point | Shop hours and prices |
| Airport terminal/Jewel | Changi Airport CG2 | Different station, longer journey |
Do not treat all events as equivalent because their posters appear on the same venue website. A free admission fair may have items for purchase; a ticketed fan festival may require advance entry; a concert has strict gate and prohibited-item rules. Check the actual event page first, then choose the rail and arrival time.
For families, a free weekend food fair can be a useful low-cost destination, but crowds and queues matter. If a child is tired, visiting only one event is sensible. The EXPO is large, and moving across several halls is a real part of the outing.
Expo MRT CG1/DT35: an interchange with a different train approach
Expo MRT is both CG1 on the East–West Line airport branch and DT35 on the Downtown Line. That means some passengers can arrive directly via the Downtown Line, while travellers on the main East–West Line commonly transfer at Tanah Merah EW4 to an airport-bound branch train.
The next airport-branch stop is Changi Airport CG2. Expo is not the same station as the public airport terminals or Jewel Changi Airport. Someone who wants to visit the Rain Vortex must take the correct onward transport rather than leave at the EXPO exhibition halls simply because the station name sounds related to aviation.
For a public fair, the most important arrival information is the hall number and foyer rather than an arbitrary exit letter copied from a map. Singapore EXPO spans several large buildings. The operator’s address, 1 Expo Drive, Singapore 486150, helps identify the campus but does not tell you where to enter Hall 4 versus Hall 6.
Agree on a clear meeting point such as the entrance of a named hall or foyer. “Meet outside Singapore EXPO” can leave friends on opposite ends of the venue. With a stroller, wheelchair or heavy shopping bags, follow the accessible route and lifts instead of a shortcut that crosses loading or service areas.
Official directions: Singapore EXPO Getting Here and eduKate Expo MRT general guide.
Which Singapore EXPO foyer serves your hall?
Singapore EXPO divides its major exhibition halls among several foyer areas. The visitor orientation information identifies Foyer 1 for Halls 1–3, Foyer 2 for Halls 4–6, and Foyer 3 for Halls 7–10. These are useful general wayfinding groupings. Temporary event entrances or queue arrangements may direct visitors elsewhere on a particular day.
For this weekend, the Asia Pacific Food Expo is in Hall 4 and the Cat Festival in Hall 6, so both fall in the Foyer 2 hall grouping. That does not mean the two events share a ticket or that their entry gates are interchangeable. Follow separate posters, queue lines and staff instructions.
Concert events may use named performance configurations such as Arena @ EXPO or Apex @ EXPO. Their ticketing and entrance guidance may not match the simple consumer-fair foyer approach. Always use the exact information issued for the performance you are attending.
Large venues can become tiring because a hall numbered “next door” may require long corridors and queue barriers. For older visitors, agree on one main activity and avoid roaming through the entire campus looking for a poster from last month.
The best EXPO strategy is to know the correct building before leaving the MRT. A two-minute check saves a surprising amount of walking.
Free this weekend: Asia Pacific Food Expo, 6–9 November
The Asia Pacific Food Expo 2026 is one of the clearest truly free-admission activities near Expo MRT during the weekend of 7 November. Singapore EXPO’s official listing gives the dates 6–9 November, hours 11am–9pm each day, Hall 4, and admission status Open to Public (Free). The organiser is the Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association.
Visitors can browse a wide range of food producers and product stalls, including Singapore and international offerings. The official event description highlights exhibitors from Malaysia, China, Taiwan and Thailand, with a Hokkaido Pavilion representing Japanese food products. A free entry does not mean the food sold or every promotional activity is complimentary.
For a family, the fair can be enjoyable when you decide on a time and spending limit. A child may like seeing different packaged foods or learning how a product is presented, but busy aisles and queues can be overwhelming. Keep the outing purposeful: choose a few stalls or product categories rather than trying to sample everything.
The fair ends on Monday 9 November 2026. Its event page should not be read as a permanent market operating every day. Readers planning a visit later in the year should check for a new event rather than relying on this dated listing.

What ‘free admission’ really means at a food exhibition
Admission to the Asia Pacific Food Expo is free, but the event includes vendors selling food, packaged goods and other products. Some vendors may offer samples or promotions; the operator’s free admission label does not guarantee that every visitor receives a free meal, product bundle or giveaway. Distinguish the cost of entering a fair from the cost of purchasing what is offered inside.
For families on a budget, choose an amount you are comfortable spending before arriving. Explain to children that the visit is for looking, tasting only where offered appropriately and choosing a small purchase if desired. You do not need to buy something from every booth simply because a salesperson provides an explanation.
If anyone has allergies or dietary needs, inspect labels and ask the individual vendor. Food safety and ingredient rules apply regardless of whether a product comes from Singapore or overseas. Do not assume that because a stall’s cuisine is familiar, the contents meet every dietary requirement.
Respect exhibition etiquette. People may be in queues, exhibitors may be handling food and staff may need delivery routes. Avoid blocking aisles with strollers or leaving rubbish behind. If a stall is very busy, move on rather than pressure a tired child to wait for a particular sample.
With good expectations, a free consumer fair can be both enjoyable and affordable without an unrealistic promise of “unlimited free food”.
Singapore Cat Festival, 7–8 November: ticketed, not free
The Singapore Cat Festival 2026 takes place 7–8 November, from 10am to 8pm, at Hall 6. Singapore EXPO’s official listing describes it as Open to Public (Ticketed Admission). It combines a marketplace, cat-themed exhibits, creative displays and community activities. People arriving for the festival should check the organiser’s actual ticket categories and event restrictions.
It would be inaccurate to describe the entire festival as a free animal encounter simply because it appears in the same building as the free food expo. Tickets and entry rules are separate. The event may have restrictions on bringing pets, photography, handling of animals or interaction zones. Those should be checked before travelling; do not assume visitors can touch or carry animals just because the event celebrates cats.
Parents should think about whether the child’s interest is in seeing cats, learning about responsible care or buying a particular product. A busy indoor festival can be enjoyable, but crowds and noise may be stressful for some children and animals. Follow the organiser’s welfare and safety rules.
If your group does not want to purchase a ticket, the free Asia Pacific Food Expo in Hall 4 is a different activity taking place on the same dates. Do not join the Hall 6 queue expecting the Hall 4 admission rules to apply.
Official event listing: Singapore Cat Festival 2026 at Hall 6.
Responsible animal-event visits: welfare before photographs
A cat-themed festival can introduce children to animal care, products and community initiatives, but it should not be treated as a petting zoo in which every animal is available to be touched. Animals differ in their tolerance of noise, unfamiliar people and crowded environments. Visitors should ask permission and follow any no-touch areas, barriers and handling policies.
For a child who loves cats, discuss how responsible pet ownership involves feeding, exercise or enrichment, veterinary care and long-term commitment. A pleasant afternoon at a festival is not proof that a household is ready to adopt an animal. Research the actual responsibilities rather than make an impulse decision in the excitement of the event.
Photography can be intrusive to animals and people. Follow policies on flash, cameras and queueing. Avoid blocking booth access to take a portrait of a cat or visitor. If the event is loud, give younger children breaks and consider leaving early.
These concerns apply regardless of whether the festival is free or ticketed. A purchase does not entitle someone to ignore animal-welfare rules. The best family visit is one that respects the organisers, animals and other visitors.
Mega Beauty Festival and other temporary fairs
The current Singapore EXPO event calendar lists Mega Beauty Festival at Hall 5B, with a run from 6–9 November 2026 after an earlier October–November session. This is another event in the Foyer 2 hall area, but its admission and activity terms should be checked on the specific event page before describing it as free or ticketed.
Beauty fairs can include product displays, sales and demonstrations. A visitor may enjoy browsing, but the suitability of a particular product or treatment is personal. Do not interpret a promotional claim as established medical advice, and do not assume the lowest advertised price includes every service or condition.
For families, one current fair is generally enough to occupy a portion of the day. A venue with several events does not imply that visitors should move through all of them. Tickets, age restrictions and crowd conditions may differ, so it is possible to enter one hall freely and be denied at another without the required admission.
For the precise schedule and admission label, consult the current Singapore EXPO events calendar close to your chosen date. Event pages may be updated with last-minute changes.
November concerts: JOJI, LE SSERAFIM and FKJ
Singapore EXPO is also a concert venue. Its operator’s late-2026 schedule lists JOJI on 21–22 November, LE SSERAFIM on 28 November, and FKJ on 29 November. These are named performance events using configurations such as Arena @ EXPO or Apex @ EXPO, with their own tickets, entry gates and event-specific security rules.
Do not confuse a listed concert date with guaranteed seat availability. A show may be sold out, may use restricted resale terms or may require a specific identity or ticket check. The EXPO venue page gives contextual information, but the authorised ticketing operator is the source for actual seats and prices.
Visitors should know the exact hall, entry time and bag policy before travelling. Concert days can generate crowds beyond what a routine mall visit experiences. Transport and walking time after a show may be longer than usual, particularly when many people head back to the same MRT platforms.
For parents accompanying teenagers, agree on a meeting point and return plan in advance. The event gate is often controlled and may not permit non-ticket holders to enter. A ticketed performance is a different kind of visit from a free food exhibition, despite sharing the same address.
Upcoming December 2026 events: browse without inventing admission
People searching “things to do near Expo MRT next month” may be interested in the operator’s December listings. Singapore EXPO currently lists Sgcarmart CARnival on 5–6 December at Hall 4 and Asia TCM & Wellness Expo on 4–6 December at Hall 5B. It also lists MEGATEX during early December and other specialised exhibitions.
These names and dates are useful starting points, but readers should not assume all events are free because one fair in November is free. Some may require tickets, registration, trade eligibility or specific age conditions. The responsible approach is to open each event’s exact official listing and then the authorised registration page.
A large exhibition can be interesting even when you are only casually exploring an industry, but a trade-focused event may not welcome ordinary public entry. Check whether the operator labels admission as open to public, ticketed or restricted before planning.
The events calendar changes. An event that is listed today might move halls or hours, so its date and location should be checked again a few days before travel.
Changi City Point: a separate nearby outlet mall
Changi City Point is at 5 Changi Business Park Central 1, Singapore 486038, a short onward walk from Expo MRT using present pedestrian signs. The operator describes it as an outlet shopping mall with restaurants and other services, usually open 10am–10pm. It is a more consistent day-to-day destination than an exhibition hall whose public events change every week.
Outlet retail does not mean every item is always cheaper than at another shop. Compare the actual price, product condition, sizes and return policy before buying. Promotions can change, and a named store may relocate or finish a campaign without the mall itself closing.
The mall can serve as a practical place for a meal before or after an exhibition. A family with young children may prefer to eat there rather than queue for food at a crowded fair. If the main purpose is an event, leave enough time to return to the correct EXPO hall without rushing across the precinct.
For current business listings, use Changi City Point’s main website and its live store directory rather than a static third-party outlet ranking.
Changi City Point’s weekend shuttle ended in July 2026
An important transport update appears prominently on Changi City Point’s official website: the weekend shuttle service ceased after Sunday, 26 July 2026. Older guides may still advertise a free weekend shuttle as part of a mall outing. Those instructions should not be used in November.
The mall remains accessible from Expo MRT by normal pedestrian routes, and buses serve the broader business park. The exact best connection depends on where you are starting. A former shuttle programme is not proof that a replacement is operating, so use the live public-transport route planner instead.
Other mall services are time-sensitive. Its website advertises a luggage-locker trial with limited free promotional availability, but “free for a limited time” is not a universal permanent guarantee. Ask the operator about the current price, capacity, security and item-size rules rather than building a travel itinerary around a free locker assumed to be always available.
For travellers with luggage, consider whether a shopping mall is the right place to wait before a flight. Jewel and airport terminals have different security, storage and walking constraints. Expo MRT is not the terminal station.
Read Changi City Point’s up-to-date transport and services notices before relying on a shuttle or locker.
Corporate and airport-worker promotions are not universal discounts
Changi City Point runs promotions aimed at people working in the business park, including a corporate offer period from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027 at participating outlets. These promotions typically require proof of qualifying employment and depend on the individual merchant’s terms.
It would be misleading to advertise these as available to every visitor arriving by MRT. A family from elsewhere in Singapore may enjoy the same shops but not qualify for a corporate deal. Similarly, a promotional price displayed outside an outlet may apply only to selected sizes or items and not the entire store.
Before buying, check the exact discount, product, date and refund conditions. If the family has a firm budget, compare the final checkout cost rather than an advertising headline such as “up to 80% off”. Discounts are useful only when the product meets a genuine need.
For teenagers, this can be a lesson about advertising literacy. A promotion is a conditional statement, not a promise of universal savings. Reading terms carefully is a practical skill that applies to tickets, transport and online offers as well as shopping.
The difference between EXPO and Changi Airport MRT
Expo CG1/DT35 serves an exhibition venue and Changi Business Park. Changi Airport CG2 serves the airport’s public terminal infrastructure, from which people can reach Jewel’s Rain Vortex and other landside experiences. They are adjacent on the airport branch but are not interchangeable stations.
A traveller trying to catch a flight should travel to the correct airline terminal rather than stop at Expo because its architecture looks like an airport building. A visitor heading to a trade fair should not continue to the airport and assume a shuttle runs between the two venues without checking.
For a family wanting free entertainment, the choice depends on what is actually operating. The Asia Pacific Food Expo is a temporary free event on 6–9 November. Jewel is a permanent leisure complex with its own attraction hours and maintenance notices. These are very different experiences and budgets.
See eduKate’s November 2026 Changi Airport MRT and Jewel guide if the airport waterfall is your actual aim. It includes the time-sensitive Forest Valley and Rain Vortex interruptions on 7–8 November.
Event entry: free public fair, ticketed festival and trade-only show
When planning an EXPO visit, read the event’s admission line. Open to Public (Free) means visitors can generally enter without paying for admission, though purchases remain separate. Open to Public (Ticketed Admission) means a ticket is required. A trade-only event can restrict entry to registered professionals or invited participants, even when it occupies a hall visible from a public foyer.
These access categories matter more than the event’s theme. A food fair can be free one weekend and ticketed another. An animal festival can charge admission despite being family-friendly. A business conference might have no public ticket at all.
Arrive with any registration confirmation and proof of eligibility. If you are not sure whether a child needs a ticket or an adult must accompany them, check the event organiser’s current terms. Do not ask entrance staff to make an exception based on a different hall’s rules.
A venue’s operating hours are the time its building can run events, not the time every exhibitor welcomes visitors. Use the exact event schedule, which may begin later and end earlier than the EXPO’s general 8am–10pm window.
Large-hall accessibility and crowd comfort
Singapore EXPO has a substantial indoor layout with long corridors, large halls and entrance queues. For wheelchair users, strollers or older visitors, the journey from the MRT platform to the correct hall can require more time than a standard map estimate. Choose the accessible entrance and ask venue staff about lifts or rest points as needed.
For families with children, agree on a meeting point before anyone browses separate stalls. A busy expo floor is not an appropriate place for a young child to wander independently. Keep bags and strollers clear of emergency exits and circulation paths, and follow event-specific queue management.
Some festivals or conventions can be noisy and visually intense. A visitor sensitive to crowds may prefer an earlier session or a shorter stay. Free admission does not create an obligation to remain until closing; a comfortable 45-minute browse can be enough.
When choosing a concert, consider how the return journey may be affected by thousands of people leaving at the same time. Follow current crowd-control signs and allow more time for the MRT interchange and any onward transfers.
A simple budget for a genuinely useful Expo visit
A free-admission fair can still encourage spending through samples, purchases, meals and promotions. A ticketed festival adds admission before any shopping. Concerts can include transport, tickets, food and merchandise. Changi City Point is free to enter as a mall, but its goods and services remain commercial.
Choose the budget before leaving. A free-first visit can focus on the Asia Pacific Food Expo with transport as the principal predictable cost. A low-spend day adds one chosen meal or item. A paid experience should begin with a confirmed ticket and realistic return-journey allowance.
If you want to compare outlet prices, make a shopping list. Do not buy an unnecessary product merely because it is discounted; the amount saved on something you did not need is not a real benefit to the family budget.
For younger children, explain what the family is visiting and whether they will buy something. A clear plan protects the outing from constant negotiation at food stalls or novelty displays.
Three itineraries: one hour, a food-fair afternoon and a concert visit
One hour on an ordinary non-event day
Travel to Expo, use the signed route to Changi City Point, enjoy a meal or short retail browse and return. Do not assume an unbooked exhibition hall has a show worth entering. The mall can be a complete practical outing by itself.
Two hours on 7 or 8 November: free food fair
Arrive for Hall 4’s Asia Pacific Food Expo during 11am–9pm. Browse a few product areas, decide whether to buy refreshments and allow time for returning to the MRT. This is the clearest current public free-admission choice. Do not accidentally join the ticketed Hall 6 Cat Festival queue.
Half-day with a ticketed Cat Festival
Purchase or confirm the required Hall 6 admission, read age and animal-interaction rules, and attend during the 10am–8pm event window. Add a meal at Changi City Point only if the family has energy. Keep the visit comfortable for the children and considerate to animals.
Concert evening later in November
Read the actual ticket and event gate instructions for the scheduled show, arrive with a crowd buffer, and choose a transport plan for after the performance. Do not assume the event hall is open for casual sightseeing outside your ticketed slot.
What children can learn at an event venue
Singapore EXPO can be an informal learning environment when children see products, displays and crowd organisation. The key is to choose a short, concrete question that makes the experience more understandable without turning leisure into another school assessment.
Primary 1–3: identify products and countries
At a food fair, read a label or country name and ask where a product comes from. Children can practise describing packaging, ingredients and different categories of food. Avoid teaching that every product from a country represents the entire national cuisine.
Primary 4–6: marketing and choices
Ask why companies use colourful displays and samples. How can a buyer decide whether a special offer is worth it? A student can learn to compare quantity, price and a product’s real usefulness rather than take advertising claims at face value.
Secondary: event operations and logistics
Consider how event managers allocate halls, ticket queues, emergency exits and delivery routes. Why does a free public fair use different access control from a concert? Students can investigate practical trade-offs without pretending to know a venue’s complete security plan.
Two-minute read-back
On the train home, each person names one observation, one verified fact and one question still open. This simple habit strengthens language and reasoning without making the outing stressful.
Common Expo MRT mistakes and current corrections
Assuming every exhibition is free. Hall 4 Asia Pacific Food Expo is free, while the 7–8 November Cat Festival at Hall 6 is ticketed.
Assuming Expo building hours equal each event’s hours. The venue is generally 8am–10pm; the Food Expo is 11am–9pm and Cat Festival 10am–8pm.
Getting the wrong hall. Halls 4–6 belong to the Foyer 2 group but have separate event entrances and queues.
Going to Changi Airport CG2 for Singapore EXPO. The exhibition venue is at Expo CG1/DT35, one station before the airport on its branch.
Relying on Changi City Point’s former weekend shuttle. It ceased after 26 July 2026.
Assuming outlet discounts apply to every product. Read the exact participating store and promotional terms.
Promising a free luggage locker permanently. The mall advertises a limited promotional trial subject to current availability and conditions.
Trying every exhibition in one afternoon. Choose the activity most relevant to your family, allow rest and follow its actual admission policy.

Before leaving: a five-minute family event check
A large exhibition venue rewards careful preparation because the most important information can change with each organiser. Start by opening the event listing and confirming the date, hall number, admission category and public opening time. For this weekend, an adult looking for the free Asia Pacific Food Expo needs Hall 4 between 11am and 9pm, while someone attending Singapore Cat Festival needs the correct ticket for Hall 6 and its 10am–8pm programme. They may use the same MRT station, but their entry conditions are different.
Next, choose a meeting place outside the ticketed or controlled portion of the hall. If relatives arrive by different rail lines or buses, name the precise foyer and entrance. Make a second meeting arrangement in case the family becomes separated inside a crowded hall. When travelling with small children, keep them beside a responsible adult and avoid leaving strollers across exhibition aisles or emergency routes.
Then set a realistic budget. Free admission at a consumer fair does not mean that products, meals or specialty demonstrations are complimentary. Decide whether the visit is for browsing, a particular purchase or a ticketed programme. A small pre-agreed spending limit helps families enjoy an exhibition without continually negotiating every promotional offer.
Finally, make a return plan. If travelling after a concert or large fair, allow extra time for crowds moving towards Expo MRT. Follow venue and public-transport staff directions rather than assuming that the route through one particular gate remains available during closing-time operations. A visit is successful when everyone gets to the right hall, enjoys the intended activity and returns home comfortably.
