Essential vocabulary is the dependable layer. These are words students should increasingly recognise and use without forcing them into sentences.

Essential or Advanced?

Use Essential when a student is still building dependable control. Move into Advanced when most Essential words can be explained, contrasted and transferred into new contexts naturally.
