Vocabulary OS Sensor Directory

Vocabulary OS Sensor Directory is the instrument panel for Vocabulary OS.

Vocabulary OS is not “word memorisation”.
Vocabulary OS is the meaning infrastructure that powers:

  • Education OS (comprehension, writing clarity, exam performance)
  • Mind OS (precision reduces internal noise)
  • Governance OS (policy clarity and coordination bandwidth)
  • Culture & Language OS (shared meaning and cohesion)

This directory exists to prevent drift by making Vocabulary OS measurable.

Vocabulary OS Core Loop (What We Measure)

Vocabulary OS runs as a closed-loop:

exposure → connection → retrieval → sentence use → repair

If the loop is healthy, vocabulary grows monotonically and becomes stable.
If the loop is broken, vocabulary growth becomes oscillating, fragile, and shallow.

How to Use This Sensor Directory

You do not “judge vocabulary” by how many difficult words someone knows.

You diagnose the loop by checking the five sensors:

  1. Exposure Sensor
  2. Connection Sensor
  3. Retrieval Sensor
  4. Sentence Use Sensor
  5. Repair Sensor

If all five sensors improve over time, the system is running.

The Vocabulary Gauge (Your Public Dashboard)

These pages are the interpretation layer and safety rails:

The sensors below feed into the gauge.

Vocabulary Gauge → vocabulary-gauge

Telemetry → vocabulary-telemetry

Diagnostic Sensor → vocabulary-diagnostics-sensor

The Five Core Sensors (The Loop Sensors)

1) Vocabulary Exposure Sensor

Slug: vocab-sensor-exposure
https://edukatesg.com/vocab-sensor-exposure/

Measures whether the learner is receiving enough high-quality input (the fuel of vocabulary growth).

2) Vocabulary Connection Sensor

Slug: vocab-sensor-connection
https://edukatesg.com/vocab-sensor-connection/

Measures whether new words are being linked into a semantic network (meaning, synonyms, antonyms, contexts, collocations).

3) Vocabulary Retrieval Sensor

Slug: vocab-sensor-retrieval
https://edukatesg.com/vocab-sensor-retrieval/

Measures whether words are retrievable after time delays (24h / 7d / 30d).
Retrieval is the difference between “seen it before” and “owns it”.

4) Vocabulary Sentence Use Sensor

Slug: vocab-sensor-sentence
https://edukatesg.com/vocab-sensor-sentence/

Measures whether a word can be used correctly in sentences across contexts.
This is where vocabulary becomes functional, not decorative.

5) Vocabulary Repair Sensor

Slug: vocab-sensor-repair
https://edukatesg.com/vocab-sensor-repair/

Measures whether mistakes are repaired and stabilised (wrong meaning, wrong tone, wrong collocation, wrong grammar).
Repair is what turns learning into a self-correcting system.

Vocabulary OS Execution Rule (Anti-Drift)

Vocabulary OS is “running” only if:

  • Exposure is consistent
  • Connections deepen
  • Retrieval improves over time
  • Sentence use becomes correct and flexible
  • Repair reduces repeated mistakes

If any sensor is missing, the loop leaks.

Recommended Build Order (So It Becomes Operational Fast)

  1. Publish this directory page (you are here).
  2. Publish the five sensor pages in the order of the loop:
exposure → connection → retrieval → sentence use → repair
  3. Link each sensor page back to:
  • Vocabulary Gauge
  • Reading the Vocabulary Gauge
  • Monitoring Vocabulary Health
  1. Then we connect Vocabulary OS into Education OS using the interface page:
    https://edukatesg.com/interface-vocab-education/
