It is reasonable to watch rather than add tuition immediately when:

  • the error appeared only once or twice;
  • the student understands correction;
  • the same mistake is already decreasing;
  • homework can still be attempted independently;
  • the learner can explain what is confusing;
  • school feedback is producing improvement;
  • the child is still adapting to new notation or pace;
  • there is no evidence that the weakness is spreading into other topics.

Normal transition needs experience. Premature intervention can teach the child that every difficult new topic requires external rescue.
