Places in Bukit Timah | Clementi Nature Corridor and Its 2027 Wildlife Links

Hillview Connect passing beneath the Rail Corridor in the Hillview and Dairy Farm area of Singapore.

Did you know? One of Bukit Timah’s most important future green places is not a single park with an entrance gate. The Clementi Nature Corridor is a network of forests and routes that helps wildlife move between Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and the Southern Ridges. It includes forested areas around Clementi, Toh Tuck and Maju, as well as the Rail Corridor.

That means someone searching for a “Clementi Nature Corridor walk” in late 2026 could easily get the wrong idea. Some connected public trails exist today; other habitats are protected for their ecological role and are not visitor attractions. Here is how to enjoy the public sections and what to watch as plans develop through 2027.

What is the Clementi Nature Corridor?

  • Purpose: link wildlife habitats between the Bukit Timah forests and the Southern Ridges.
  • Places involved: the Rail Corridor, Clementi Forest, Toh Tuck and Maju forested areas, plus other safeguarded green spaces.
  • Existing public option: Holland Green Linear Park and its links to the Clementi Nature Trail.
  • Separate concept: an ecological corridor is not necessarily one continuous, marked recreational track.
  • October 2026 update: NParks’ Friends of Clementi-Ulu Pandan Nature Corridor page highlights ongoing community restoration and habitat-enhancement work.
  • 2027 outlook: follow new trail-opening or habitat-protection announcements; no universal completion day for the entire network is stated.

Why connect forests instead of keeping them as isolated parks?

Imagine a small bird that feeds on insects, a fruit-eating mammal or a butterfly that needs specific plants. If suitable habitat is broken into isolated patches, moving from one patch to another becomes harder. Green corridors can serve as routes or stepping-stone habitats, helping animals find food, mates and new territories.

NParks explains that the Clementi Nature Corridor connects Bukit Timah Nature Reserve to the Southern Ridges through both the Rail Corridor and forested sites at Clementi, Toh Tuck and Maju. Its aim is ecological connectivity, not simply adding kilometres to a jogging route.

The distinction is important for conservation. A visitor should not assume that entering an unmanaged forest is helpful because it is labelled part of a corridor. Staying on an established public trail protects sensitive edges from repeated trampling.

What can visitors explore in 2026?

One practical starting point is Holland Green Linear Park, which NParks describes as running beside the Bukit Timah First Diversion Canal and linking towards the Rail Corridor and Clementi Nature Trail. The park covers about 2.32 hectares and its park page lists public access and wheelchair accessibility.

For local visitors starting at King Albert Park MRT, NParks directs readers towards the Rail Corridor approach to Holland Green Linear Park. Follow current access signs and take the walk in daylight rather than assuming that a 24-hour park designation means every adjoining forest track has lighting.

Our Holland Green Linear Park and Clementi Nature Trail visitor article covers the open walking experience. This page instead explains the larger ecological network and how to distinguish future routes from those operating now.

What is happening around Clementi-Ulu Pandan in late 2026?

NParks’ Friends of Clementi-Ulu Pandan Nature Corridor group works on forest restoration and habitat enhancement. Its page, updated 8 October 2026, describes community involvement and biodiversity surveys such as BioBlitz activities. A BioBlitz is a time-limited effort to observe and document the species present at a location.

That work matters because protecting a corridor is not finished after a path is laid. Vegetation, habitat quality, invasive plants, human disturbance and water conditions influence whether a green link actually helps wildlife.

NParks also describes safeguarded space for a future nature park at Ulu Pandan West, intended to act as a habitat stepping stone between Clementi Forest and the Southern Ridges. Safeguarded land is not automatically an open visitor park, and a future nature park is not necessarily available for independent exploration.

What might change through 2027?

The realistic watchpoints are more clearly defined public connections, habitat-restoration work, nature-park planning and access notices. URA’s Master Plan 2025 includes the Clementi Nature Corridor among the Bukit Timah area’s expanding greenery network, alongside Holland Plain’s future parks and the separate Bukit Timah–Rochor Green Corridor.

What we should not do is assign an invented 2027 opening day to the entire network. NParks’ corridor page explains a long-running conservation effort, while its park pages tell visitors what specific places are open. Both are needed for responsible trip planning.

Likewise, the proposed green links at Holland Plain and the elevated route near King Albert Park are not interchangeable. Each project has different work scopes and schedules. A newly opened segment in one location does not turn all the corridor’s forest patches into public paths.

How to make a simple learning walk out of it

  • Observe, don’t disturb: watch for fruiting plants, birds and pollinators from the public path.
  • Connect the idea: ask a child why a continuous line of trees can be more useful to wildlife than two small lawns surrounded by roads.
  • Use reliable access information: choose NParks park and trail maps rather than cutting into forest from a GPS trace.
  • Bring appropriate supplies: water, sun and rain protection, and shoes suitable for uneven sections.
  • Leave no trace: take rubbish away and do not pick plants or feed wildlife.

Frequently asked questions

Is Clementi Nature Corridor one fully open 18 km hiking trail?

No. The corridor refers to an ecological network, with some existing recreational routes and other areas that are not public paths. A map showing planned links should not be treated as an unrestricted hiking route.

Can I walk along Holland Green Linear Park now?

Yes, NParks lists it as an existing public park. Follow current entrance and trail notices, particularly where paths join other networks.

Is Ulu Pandan West Nature Park already open?

NParks describes future safeguarded nature-park space in the Ulu Pandan area. The corridor description does not establish a 2026 or 2027 public-opening date.

Will all the forest links be finished in 2027?

No single completion date for the whole ecological network is stated in the official material checked.
