Botanic Gardens MRT to Symphony Stage | Wheelchair Route, Slopes and Drop-Off

For the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage from Botanic Gardens MRT, use Exit A and enter at Bukit Timah Gate. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s April 2026 access guide maps a route of about 800 metres from the MRT to the concert area. It marks steep slopes and notes that wheelchair users may need assistance.

If the walk from the MRT is too long for your group, compare the Visitor Centre and NParks HQ drop-off at Nassim Gate. The guide estimates about 400 metres from the Visitor Centre approach and flags steep slopes there too. Check the current event’s access arrangements before setting out.

  • By MRT · Botanic Gardens (CC19/DT9), Exit A.
  • Mapped route · About 800 metres to the concert area in the SSO guide.
  • Alternative · Visitor Centre drop-off at Nassim Gate, about 400 metres on the guide’s route.
  • Gradient · Both routes have steep sections.

Read the route before leaving the station

Use the map and photo directions in the SSO access guide. Its route begins at Exit A, enters Bukit Timah Gate, passes Visitor Services and continues towards Eco-Lake before following the Cluny Park Way approach. Save the relevant pages before arriving so you can compare the signs and turns along the route.

Allow time to find your bearings at the gate. If meeting companions, choose a clear landmark so no one has to start the route alone or cross the Gardens looking for the group.

Check the slopes and choose a suitable approach

The SSO guide marks slopes on the map and highlights sections where assistance may be needed. Look at the route photos together if someone is deciding whether it suits their wheelchair, mobility aid or walking pace. An accessible route can include changes in gradient.

Compare Nassim Gate for a shorter approach

For a drop-off, share “Visitor Centre and NParks HQ, Nassim Gate” with the driver. The SSO guide maps a shorter walk from that approach, but it still describes steep sections. Check the event’s current drop-off and access information before deciding.

Plan the concert details separately from the walk

The April 2026 guide was prepared for a specific concert. Its path illustrations are a useful reference, while arrangements for reserved areas, arrival times and temporary access can change by event. Look for the organiser’s latest venue information and ask about the seating or viewing options you need.

NParks publishes wheelchair loans through Visitor Services desks during its listed 8am to 5.30pm service hours. Check with the Gardens in advance if your trip depends on a loan or on a particular desk being available.

Leave time for the return

Choose your return gate before the concert starts. If you are returning to the MRT, allow for the slopes in the opposite direction and for crowds leaving together. If someone is collecting you, agree on the designated pickup point and a time that leaves room for the walk.

For a short garden outing without a concert, you can stop at an earlier landmark and turn back. Keep the full stage route for a day when it suits the group’s plans and mobility needs.
