If you plan to take 2027 SEC Humanities as a private candidate, check the subject title for both Social Studies and its paired discipline. SEAB lists different entries for Social Studies paired with Geography, History or Literature in English at G2 and G3. Choosing the wrong row can lead you to revise an elective you are not entering.
Record the pairing, level and code together. Then read the official syllabus for that combination, including how each component is assessed. Keep separate practice targets for Social Studies and the paired discipline, and verify that both appear on your study calendar.
- Select the private-candidate directory for your intended level.
- Check the full Humanities pairing and 2027 code.
- Read the scheme of assessment for both components.
- Sort your revision materials by discipline.
- Verify the intended entry when the registration instructions are available.
Match the pairing and the level
- Social Studies and Geography — G2 K229 and G3 K335.
- Social Studies and History — G2 K230 and G3 K336.
- Social Studies and Literature in English — G2 K231 and G3 K337.
These are selected entries for private candidates. Read the official directory for any other pairing and its requirements. For instance, the G3 private directory also lists pairings with Literature in Chinese, Malay and Tamil in its Local Subjects section. Use the full title to distinguish those entries from Literature in English.

Build a plan for both components
Read the scheme of assessment and label each practice session with the component it serves. If you pair Social Studies with History, keep a Social Studies task and a History task on your schedule. For each, note the relevant source skills, content and response instructions from the current syllabus.
Try a short diagnostic task for each component. After attempting it, write down one specific issue. You might have found relevant evidence but stopped before explaining how it supported an answer. Or you might have known a case example but used it to answer a different question. Practising those two issues calls for different exercises.

Worked example
A learner remembers the old name “Combined Humanities” and has a folder labelled Social Studies and Geography. They intend to take G3 Humanities with History. After identifying K336 in the current directory, they check the official syllabus. They retain Social Studies exercises that fit it, separate the Geography notes and start a History practice list for the correct component.

Will the G2 and G3 pairing have the same code?
