If you use an extra answer booklet or writing paper in a 2026 secondary GCE exam, SEAB’s rules require you to insert it into the main answer booklet before submitting to the invigilator. Work left outside the submission may go unmarked.
Check the instructions for your paper before writing on extra pages. Keep each continuation easy to identify and leave time to assemble the submission before the end of the examination.
- Ask the invigilator if you need extra writing material.
- Follow the paper’s instructions for identifying your work.
- Keep track of any answer that continues on another page.
- Insert the extra material into the main booklet as directed.
Make the continuation easy to follow
Use the question number and any other details required by the paper. If an answer continues onto another sheet, make that continuation clear within the permitted format. Ask staff about unfamiliar instructions before relying on your own method.
For example, if a calculation continues on additional writing paper, identify the correct question according to the paper’s directions. At submission, check that the additional sheet is inside the main booklet rather than underneath it on the desk.

Practise the last check before time is called
In a timed rehearsal, reserve a brief check for extra pages. Confirm which questions used them and whether the pages are included in the right submission. On exam day, stop writing immediately when instructed and follow the collection procedure.
See the end-of-paper guide for stopping work and handling materials at the venue.
