More than Human at ArtScience Museum 2026: Tickets, Dates and What to See

ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore

More than Human: Making With the Living World opens on 28 November 2026 at ArtScience Museum and runs until 16 May 2027. The exhibition is in the Basement 2 Galleries, with daily hours of 9am to 6pm and a 5pm last entry. Adult tickets start at S$19.50 for Singapore residents and S$22 for tourists.

This is an exhibition about how design changes when people consider animals, plants and ecosystems. It is a good fit for visitors looking for a school holiday museum trip with something to discuss afterwards. Book More than Human by name and use Bayfront MRT Exit D for the museum’s suggested shortest MRT approach.

  • Dates: Saturday 28 November 2026 to Sunday 16 May 2027, at ArtScience Museum.
  • Starting concession prices are S$16.50 for Singapore residents and S$18 for tourists.
  • The museum lists a kids’ tour on 28 November and 5 December, 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Check the programme’s booking terms separately.
  • The museum’s public areas are free to enter. More than Human is a ticketed exhibition.

When is More than Human at ArtScience Museum?

The official exhibition listing gives the dates as 28 November 2026 to 16 May 2027. It covers late November and the December school holidays. It also runs after the holidays, so a family with a busy December can move the museum visit to a later date within the published window.

Where do you go once you reach the museum?

The exhibition is in Basement 2. On arrival, look for the exhibition name on the museum signs. Check the time and ticket before going down, especially if you have a programme booking or several orders. The building also houses other galleries and experiences, so the name ArtScience Museum alone does not identify the correct entrance.

How early should you go?

Treat 5pm as a last-entry cutoff. An early afternoon slot gives you more time to follow an interesting object or installation without watching the clock. A morning visit works if you want the waterfront or a meal afterwards. Use the current ticket page for entry windows and allow for delays between the MRT and gallery entrance.

What if you are already at Bayfront?

Check available entry for the same day on the museum site before promising a visit. If a slot or programme is full, the museum’s public areas and the waterfront are a separate outing. Plan enough time to return on a date that suits the exhibition instead of buying a ticket for a different experience by mistake.

How much are More than Human tickets?

The museum lists four starting prices by residency and age or concession category. The adult Singapore-resident rate starts at S$19.50 and the concession rate at S$16.50. Tourist adult tickets start at S$22 and concession tickets at S$18. Check the category definition and proof needed for your group, then compare the actual price for the selected date and time.

Buy the exhibition you want

Open the official ArtScience Museum ticket page, pick the date and select More than Human. The checkout can show different products for exhibitions, programmes or time periods. A family interested only in this exhibition can start with the named product and see what it covers. If you want teamLab Future World as well, confirm the bundle contents or add it separately.

Do children get in free on Fridays?

The museum advertises a conditional Friday family offer with eligible adult tickets, but says it does not apply during Singapore school holidays or public holidays. That distinction matters for December trips. Check the offer terms for your date rather than assuming that every Friday is included. For a family budget, start with the price shown for each person in the actual order.

A quick booking check for groups

List each adult and child, select the appropriate categories and keep any eligibility documents accessible. If several families book separately, agree on the same exhibition date and arrival time first. A separate tour may have a limited number of places, so check its availability alongside your entry ticket before inviting a larger group.

What is the More than Human exhibition about?

The museum describes more than 140 artworks, objects, installations and other experiences. It is a touring exhibition from the Design Museum in London and is expanded in Singapore with work and perspectives from Asia. Its central question is how design might account for the living systems that people depend on and share.

Start with an object you can describe

Pick one work and notice its form, material and purpose before reading every word of the label. Ask what human need it addresses and which other living things may be affected. Then read what the designer or artist was trying to explore. Comparing your first impression with the label often opens a better discussion than moving straight to a conclusion.

Follow one relationship

A visitor might think about how a building changes shade and water flow, how a material returns to an ecosystem or what makes a site usable for an insect. These are questions you can carry through the exhibition. They are also a way for a family to find a common thread across works that use different materials or media.

Read the difference between a proposal and a working solution

Some design projects ask what could happen. Others report what people have tried or observed. Look for the evidence on the label. A prototype can help explain an idea without showing that it will work at city scale. Ask which details would matter if you were testing it in a park, school or housing estate. This approach gives older students a way to talk about the work without needing specialist vocabulary.

An example to try after the visit

Pick a sheltered path, a planted space or a seat by the waterfront. Think of one change that could make it easier for people to use and another change that could help a plant or animal. Then decide whether the two changes could work together. Use what you saw in the gallery to explain one practical trade-off, such as light, access, maintenance or space.

Kids’ tours and December visit plans

ArtScience Museum lists a More than Human Kids’ Tour on 28 November and 5 December from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. The programme invites children to explore the galleries from a bee’s perspective. Check the exhibition programme for the booking link, suitable ages and any adult or exhibition-ticket requirements. A dated tour listing does not mean it runs every December weekend.

Opening-day programme

The exhibition page lists an opening programme called In Relation on 28 November, with conversations involving artists, designers and other practitioners. Check the dedicated listing for timing, availability and entry arrangements. If you want a regular family visit, the opening programme is a separate choice.

A self-guided visit for younger children

Give the child one idea to look for, such as how an animal finds food or where a plant can live. Choose a few stops and let their questions decide the pace. If they prefer the hands-on or immersive parts, spend more time there and save longer texts for adults who want them. Allow room for a break instead of planning a fixed number of galleries.

A visit with teens

Ask each person to choose one design they could imagine using in Singapore. Compare whose needs it serves, what evidence supports it and what you would change for a different neighbourhood. A simple note or sketch afterwards can capture what mattered without turning the trip into homework.

How to get to ArtScience Museum from Bayfront MRT

The museum is at 6 Bayfront Avenue, by the waterfront next to The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Its visitor directions put Exit D at about seven minutes on foot. Bayfront MRT is CE1/DT16. Follow signs to The Shoppes and the museum or waterfront. Use the museum’s lotus-shaped exterior as the destination once outside.

Choosing among exits

The museum also lists about 11 minutes from Exit B and 17 minutes from Exit C. The walking figures are venue estimates. If your family is already at the Gardens by the Bay side, follow a suitable route from where you are rather than automatically going back into the MRT. In heavy rain or with a stroller, use the directions that best suit the surfaces and access you need.

Arriving by taxi or car

The museum names The Shoppes or Casino drop-off at 10 Bayfront Avenue, with a walk to the museum. If parking at Marina Bay Sands, the museum directs visitors to the North Car Park and up to Level 1 for the waterfront approach. Leave time to find the gallery after reaching the museum. Ask about accessible routes directly if you need assistance.

Two ways to plan a Bayfront outing

A museum-first half-day

Make More than Human the booked activity. Allow time before it for travel and after it for one meal or walk. If someone else in the family wants to see a different exhibition, decide where to meet and whether both tickets work for the same arrival. The waterfront is a convenient optional stop once everyone has finished.

A rainy day with one indoor booking

Follow the museum’s route from Bayfront and keep the meal close to the museum or station. Set the return trip around the needs of the youngest or least mobile visitor. If the weather improves, add a short promenade walk. A separate booking across the bay may make timing harder, particularly if you spend longer in the exhibition than expected.

What to recheck before leaving

Confirm the date, gallery, ticket category and entry time. Look at the kids’ programme if it is the reason you are going. For a group arriving separately, share the museum address and the exhibit name together. If there is time afterwards, compare the museum building or waterfront with an idea from the exhibition.

How to turn a museum visit into a design conversation

Ask who shares the space

Imagine a sheltered waiting area beside a park. It needs to work for people on a hot day. It may also affect shade, water and insects around the site. When you look at a work in More than Human, use the same idea. First identify the person or community that uses the design. Then name one other living thing or system that could be affected.

Ask how you would tell whether a change worked

A solution that looks natural might still require frequent watering or maintenance. A material that works indoors might fail outside in Singapore’s rain. Try writing one question you would test if the idea were used near your home. Compare it with the problem described on the exhibit label. A student can come away with a worthwhile observation even when the work presents an open question.

Compare the gallery with a place you know

Ask the group to choose a familiar place such as a school entrance, HDB courtyard or neighbourhood park. Think of a small change that could help the people and the living things already using it. Compare your ideas with the exhibition’s examples. You may notice that the hard part is deciding where to make a change or how to maintain it after it is installed.

Use the waterfront as an optional final stop

If the weather is suitable, take a short walk outside and notice one relationship between a built surface and a living thing. A planted water feature is a place to consider light, space and upkeep. Give each visitor a chance to share something they observed. A short conversation on the way back to the MRT is enough to connect the exhibition to a place the family has just seen.

A practical visit plan for one hour or a longer afternoon

If you have about an hour

Prioritise a few works and read their labels closely. Use the rest of the visit to follow a question that came up in the first part. A larger exhibition can be rewarding even if you do not take equal time at every object. If you have booked a tour, use its meeting time as the fixed point and let the rest of the plan fit around it.

If you want a guided introduction

The museum lists public guided tours on selected Tuesdays at 3.30pm, with a same-day exhibition ticket required. Check the current dates and any sign-up arrangements. These public tours are separate from the two listed kids’ tour dates. If you are arranging a group visit, confirm that everyone is looking at the same programme.

If you have a longer afternoon

Leave room for a break before choosing a second attraction. TeamLab Future World or another separately listed experience has its own booking conditions. If the group wants to continue discussing the design exhibition, a meal or a short walk may give you more time to do that than a second gallery slot.
