Which Gate for the National Orchid Garden? | Tyersall Entrance, Tickets and the Cool House

Use the Tyersall Entrance of Singapore Botanic Gardens if your main destination is the National Orchid Garden and you are arriving by taxi or car. NParks identifies it as the most convenient parking and drop-off point. Once inside the Gardens, follow the signs to the Orchid Garden’s own entrance and ticket counter.

The National Orchid Garden has its own hours and admission. NParks lists it as open daily from 8.30am to 7pm, with last ticket sales and entry at 6pm. If you want to see the Sembcorp Cool House, allow time to reach it after you enter.

  • Ask for Tyersall Entrance for the closest listed drop-off.
  • Follow signs to the National Orchid Garden ticket counter.
  • Use 6pm as the regular last-entry time, subject to current notices.
  • Check the designated wheelchair route if you want a step-free visit.

Choose the right Botanic Gardens entrance

The Singapore Botanic Gardens has several gates. If you are going specifically to the Orchid Garden and arriving by car, use Tyersall. Send the entrance name to anyone sharing a ride or meeting you. A general map result for the Botanic Gardens can lead to a different gate.

If you are already at another entrance, open the Gardens map and use the Orchid Garden as the endpoint. The wider Gardens is large enough that the entrance you choose changes the walk. Allow time to reach the ticket counter, especially in the late afternoon.

Buy admission and plan your visit inside

NParks says tickets are purchased at the entrance counter. Check the current admission categories before travelling. If a ticket category requires proof of identity or residency, bring what the Gardens asks for.

For a short visit, pick a few outdoor displays and leave time for the one indoor collection you want most. If the Cool House is your main stop, locate the Tropical Montane Orchidetum on the map soon after entering. The last ticket time is the cutoff for admission, so arriving just before it leaves a smaller window for exploring.

For a visit with a wheelchair, NParks lists a dedicated route that avoids the stairs at the east end and provides access to the Cool House. Use the current map or ask at the entrance for that route before following the general circulation path.

What to look for at the Cool House

The Sembcorp Cool House is part of the Tropical Montane Orchidetum. It provides cooler conditions for orchid collections associated with tropical mountain forests. Look at how the indoor conditions differ from the outdoor paths you just walked.

For a family visit, compare one plant or display outside with one inside. Read the signs for their origin and growing conditions. This gives younger visitors a specific thing to look for while leaving time for the rest of the visit.
