Where to Watch Planes at Changi Airport Terminal 3 | Public Viewing Mall on Level 4

Roof architecture detail inside Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3.

For public plane spotting at Changi Airport Terminal 3, go to Level 4 on the south side near Lift Lobby 17. Changi Airport lists this as the location of the Terminal 3 Viewing Mall. It is in the public area, so a visitor meeting friends or family at the airport can go there without a flight booking.

Use the viewing area for a short stop within Terminal 3. You can see aircraft and some of the work on the apron through the windows. The view depends on aircraft positions and activity at the time, so make the visit about observing what is there rather than expecting a particular plane.

  • Use Terminal 3 Public, Level 4 South.
  • Look for Lift Lobby 17 and the Viewing Mall signs.
  • Pick a window position with a clear view and keep walkways open.
  • If you have a flight, plan when to leave for the terminal steps you still need.

How to find the Terminal 3 Viewing Mall

From the public areas of Terminal 3, go up to Level 4 and follow signs towards the south side and Lift Lobby 17. If you are starting in the Departure Hall, the floor above or the nearest escalator may not point straight to the viewing windows. Confirm the level and lobby on the terminal directory.

Travellers with baggage in the departure area of Changi Airport Terminal 3.
Terminal 3 Departures. Continue to the public Level 4 viewing area for plane spotting.

If you come by MRT, enter the public side of Terminal 3 and follow the terminal directory from there. For a group meeting, give the complete instruction ‘Terminal 3 Public, Level 4 South, near Lift Lobby 17’. That is clearer than saying ‘at the viewing area’.

What to watch for from the windows

Start by identifying a parked aircraft and the activity around it. Look for the vehicles coming and going, the movement between stands and the way airport staff prepare an aircraft before it moves. You may see more ground activity than take-offs from a particular window position.

For children, choose one small task. Count the planes you can see from one position, compare the shapes of two aircraft tails or watch how vehicles move around a stand. A short observation works even when the apron is quiet.

If you bring a camera, check the glass for reflections and use a clear public position. Leave space for other people to see and avoid setting up equipment in a through route.

Choose a viewing stop that fits the rest of the trip

If your plan is to stay in Terminal 3, the viewing mall can be the main stop. If you also want to see Jewel, treat it as a separate walk. Return to Level 2 for the Terminal 3 link bridge and check how much time you have before heading across.

For a departure, set the time you need to leave the viewing area. Include the walk to check-in or the relevant departure route, plus any steps you have yet to complete. If you are meeting an arriving passenger, agree whether they should come up to Level 4 or meet you at Arrivals.

Changi lists viewing areas at other terminals too. Use the airport’s current locations and notices if you are already in another terminal. This guide is for the Terminal 3 public viewing mall.
