If your HDB resale Option to Purchase (OTP) expires and the seller grants you a new one for the same flat, you cannot reuse the value from your previous Request for Value. HDB ties that value to the specific OTP. If you are using CPF savings or a housing loan for the new purchase, follow HDB’s Request for Value process for the new option.
The three-month validity of an HDB value is a separate clock. It runs from the date the value is available in the HDB Flat Portal and concerns the resale application under that option. It does not extend your time to exercise the OTP. Read HDB’s resale terms, section 4.
- Check whether the OTP was exercised or expired.
- If there is a new OTP and you need a value, work from the new Option Date.
- Track the OTP period, the resale application deadline and the validity of the value separately.
- Contact HDB if you already exercised the option and the value may expire before the application is complete.

Put the relevant dates side by side
When the seller grants an OTP, the Option Date starts the option period. HDB says the period is 21 calendar days, including weekends and public holidays. The Request for Value, where required, is due by the next working day after the Option Date. HDB treats Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, as working days for this purpose.
| Date or period | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Option Date | Starts the option period and the clock for requesting a value |
| Next working day | Deadline to submit the required Request for Value |
| OTP expiry | Deadline for exercising that option under its terms |
| Resale application deadline agreed in the OTP | When buyer and seller need to submit their portions after exercise |
| Three months from the value appearing in the portal | Validity of that value for the application under the relevant option |
Use the actual dates on your documents and dashboard. The latest date in the table does not move any earlier deadline. Read HDB’s Request for Value guidance.

Follow the route that matches your option
Suppose a family receives an OTP in March and gets the flat’s value that same month. They let the option expire because their funding is unresolved. In April, the seller grants a new OTP for the same flat at the same price. The March value still falls within three calendar months, but it belongs to the March OTP. A family using CPF savings or a housing loan should submit a new request using the new option and check the new value before deciding whether to exercise.
If the option was exercised and the application has yet to be submitted, check the date agreed for the resale application as well as the value’s expiry. HDB says a new Request for Value is required if the resale application is not submitted within the value’s validity period. Ask HDB which steps apply to your case and confirm what the financing arrangement requires.

Prepare the request and check the new funding figures
Keep a copy of page one of the new OTP ready for submission in My Flat Dashboard. Check the flat address and Option Date before sending it. When the value is available, review the proposed financing against the new result. An unchanged sale price can still leave a different cash requirement if the value changes. Use the HDB cash gap worksheet.

Frequently asked questions
What if I am paying entirely in cash?
HDB says a buyer using neither CPF savings nor a housing loan does not need to request a value. Check the financing choice before the submission deadline if you may use CPF or borrow.
Can I submit two Requests for Value for the same flat while the first OTP is live?
HDB’s terms say that once it receives a request it will not accept another for that flat before the relevant OTP expires. HDB determines when the next request can be submitted.
Does obtaining a value mean HDB has approved the resale?
The resale requires separate approval from HDB. Track the resale application independently of the value request.
