To buy actual PSLE or Singapore-Cambridge GCE past-year question papers, start with SEAB’s authorised publisher directory. It lists PSLE and GCE distributors separately. Check the examination, subject, syllabus code and years covered before buying a set.
Choose the material that serves your current purpose. A past-year paper shows questions from a previous sitting. A specimen paper illustrates a published assessment format. A school preliminary paper is a school assessment. Each can help with practice when you know what you are using.
- Use SEAB’s distributor directory for official past-year papers.
- Check the paper type, subject and years printed on the edition.
- Confirm what is included, especially components and answers.
- Compare the set with your current syllabus before timing a full paper.
Find an authorised publisher
SEAB’s directory lists Shing Lee Publishers and Educational Publishing House for PSLE past-year question papers. For GCE papers, consult the section for GCE-Level papers because publisher coverage can vary by subject. SEAB also says papers for some smaller-entry GCE subjects may be available on a print-on-demand basis.
Use the current directory when deciding whom to contact. Ask whether the publisher carries the exact paper you need, which years the edition covers and how to obtain it. This can save time when a retailer uses a generic title or a series includes several editions.
If a listing says “exam-style” or uses a school’s name, check the description before assuming it contains national examination papers. The clearest purchase check is to confirm what each paper actually is.

Check the code and components before paying
Write down the examination and year you are preparing for, your exact subject title and any syllabus code. Compare those details with the collection. For a GCE title, the qualification and level matter, particularly when names recur across N-Level, O-Level and A-Level.
Ask the seller what is included. A collection of written question papers may leave out audio, oral materials, practical materials or answer guidance. Some materials may be useful even with those omissions, as long as they cover the component you want to practise.
If the product contains answers, check how the publisher describes them. Treat an answer section according to its stated origin. For a question where several explanations might work, ask a teacher to help compare your reasoning with what the subject requires.

Know when a specimen paper is more useful
Use a specimen paper when you want to understand a current or revised assessment format and a matching specimen is available. SEAB’s syllabus listings identify specimen papers for some revised syllabuses. Start with the current subject listing to find out what is provided.
A past-year question may remain valuable as a practice problem after a format changes. A full mock needs a closer match. Compare paper structure, permitted equipment, components and timing against the current syllabus before using an older paper as a dress rehearsal.
If a student is preparing for the SEC, start with the guide to finding the correct SEC syllabus before choosing older GCE material.

Use fewer papers with better feedback
Begin with a short section that matches a skill you want to check. Attempt it independently and review the errors. Group them by what happened, such as misreading the question, choosing the wrong method, omitting evidence or losing track of time.
Suppose a student answers three Mathematics problems incorrectly. One error came from arithmetic and two came from misunderstanding what was being asked. The next practice should include reading and restating similar questions before calculation. A fresh problem then shows whether the change helped.
Save a matching paper for a timed rehearsal after repairing the main gaps. Keep the conditions close to the current paper, including the equipment rules. Use the results to choose the next practice target rather than simply moving to the next year in the book.

Is this where I retrieve my own old result?
For an individual result or lost certificate, use the past exam results retrieval guide.
