A child is PSLE-ready when core knowledge can be retrieved and applied with reasonable stability under examination conditions. Finishing the syllabus is not enough. The learner should be able to handle unfamiliar questions, explain or show working clearly, manage time, recover after a difficult item, and avoid the same recurring errors across several papers.
Look for consistency rather than one excellent practice score. Can the child perform across different papers and days without heavy prompting? Are mistakes becoming narrower and easier to classify? Is revision now improving precision and speed rather than repeatedly rebuilding basic understanding? Those are stronger readiness signals than simple familiarity with every chapter.
