Procrastination is not always laziness. A student may delay because the task feels unclear, too large, too difficult to start, emotionally unpleasant, or unlikely to end in success. Weak routines and easy distractions can also turn a small hesitation into a repeated habit.
Look at what happens at the moment of delay. Does the student know the first step? Is the task broken into a manageable size? Is there a knowledge gap underneath the avoidance? Does starting become easier once someone clarifies the work? The cause matters because a motivation speech will not repair confusion, and more pressure may worsen avoidance when the real problem is overload.
