Secondary 3 Principles of Accounts (POA) Tuition | Rochor Weekday or Weekend Parent Dilemma

Three learners review open books together at a classroom table, with stacks of textbooks, stationery and a whiteboard in the bright room.

ROCHOR · SECONDARY 3 · FAMILY LEARNING ROUTINES

Secondary 3 POA tuition is easier to plan when you can name the current school difficulty. For Rochor parents weighing weekday against weekend sessions, begin with your child’s own attempt and choose a time that supports correction, an independent question and a later check.

A weekday can keep feedback close to a classroom lesson. A weekend can give a tired student more room to reason. The better choice depends on energy, the actual teaching arrangement and the opportunity to return to the method.

Here is a credit-service case: a business completes $300 of services on credit and later collects $120. Service fee revenue is $300, Bank increases by $120 and the customer still owes $180. The collection does not create a second $120 of revenue.

Choose the task, then the day

Begin with one current school difficulty. Choose a routine that supports diagnosis, a clear method, independent practice and a later check.

SECTION 1 OF 10

Diagnose the current school difficulty

Back to contents

Start with a recent school attempt. Does your child confuse revenue with collection, choose the wrong account or reverse a debit and credit despite understanding the event?

Each gap needs a different correction. A precise target makes it possible to check progress with a fresh question rather than simply adding more work.

Confirm suitable POA teaching for the registered course. Ask directly about actual provision and delivery arrangements; Rochor is the family context, not a claim that a local class is available.

SECTION 2 OF 10

Services completed on credit, then partly collected

Back to contents

A fictional service business completes $300 of services on credit for a customer. Later, in the same financial period, it receives $120 from that customer through Bank. Assume no opening balances for this customer, no discounts or returns and no other transactions in the example.

When the services are completed, record debit Trade Receivables $300 and credit Service Fee Revenue $300. The customer owes the business, and the service revenue has been earned under the stated facts.

When the $120 is collected, record debit Bank $120 and credit Trade Receivables $120. The receipt settles part of the existing customer balance.

After both events, Trade Receivables is $300 − $120 = $180. Bank has increased by $120 and Service Fee Revenue is $300. The collection does not create another $120 of revenue.

Check the asset movement: initially the $300 is represented by a receivable; after collection, $120 is in Bank and $180 remains receivable. Together they still total $300 in this limited case.

If the collection were wrongly credited to Service Fee Revenue instead of Trade Receivables, revenue and receivables would each be overstated by $120. The Bank debit would still be correct. A balanced entry can therefore contain a classification error.

SECTION 3 OF 10

A weekday close to the classroom task

Back to contents

A weekday can suit a recent credit-transaction error while the question is fresh, provided your child has enough energy after school. Include meals, travel and CCA.

Keep the first target narrow: distinguish earning the revenue from collecting the receivable. Once that sequence is clear, connect it to the two entries.

A brief later check can ask why Service Fee Revenue is not credited again on collection. The explanation should refer to the earlier completed service.

SECTION 4 OF 10

A weekend for the whole reasoning sequence

Back to contents

A weekend can give space to move from the event timeline to entries, balances and error effects. Let your child explain each step before combining them.

Use one school misconception, correct it and then attempt a changed case independently. Adding a long mixed worksheet before the distinction is clear may obscure the same gap.

Leave a short return during the following week. Reconstructing the method after a gap gives useful evidence of learning.

SECTION 5 OF 10

Separate earning from settlement

Back to contents

First identify what the business has done: it completed services on credit. Then identify the later event: the customer settled part of an amount already owed.

Name the accounts affected by each event before choosing debit and credit. The first event creates revenue and a receivable; the second increases Bank and reduces that receivable.

Check the ending balances against the timeline. Do not rely only on equal debits and credits, because a wrong account can still leave an entry balanced.

SECTION 6 OF 10

Change the collection and check transfer

Back to contents

Keep the completed services at $300 but change the later collection to $200. The original service entry stays the same.

The collection entry becomes debit Bank $200 and credit Trade Receivables $200. Ending Trade Receivables is $100, Bank has increased by $200 and Service Fee Revenue remains $300.

Ask why revenue is unchanged. More of the existing receivable was collected; no additional service was provided in the stated variation.

Then attempt an applicable school question. If its facts include another service, a discount or a different period, read those facts rather than copying the small case automatically.

SECTION 7 OF 10

Ask how individual reasoning is checked

Back to contents

When enquiring about an eduKate 3-pax format, confirm suitable POA provision and ask how each student’s own attempt receives feedback.

For this case, useful feedback distinguishes a wrong account from a reversed entry and checks whether the student understands why collection is not new revenue.

Confirm the actual venue or online arrangement, fees, teaching level and weekday/weekend options. Choose using verified details and your child’s learning need.

SECTION 8 OF 10

Match the course and examination year

Back to contents

Check the registered course and examination year with the school. SEAB has separate 2027 SEC G3 and 2027 SEC G2 syllabus pages.

The official G3 POA syllabus includes services provided on credit and the related accounting entries. This example develops one transaction distinction rather than a complete revision plan.

Use materials suited to the applicable document and the school’s current teaching sequence. Confirm scope before expanding the workload.

SECTION 9 OF 10

Compare days with the same target

Back to contents

Whether you try a weekday or weekend, use a consistent initial target: explain the events, record the entries and calculate the ending receivable.

Observe both attention during the session and independent recall afterwards. If entries are accurate but the explanation is weak, work on meaning next.

If fatigue causes repeated reading slips, revisit timing and task length. Change one part of the routine at a time so you can see what helps.

SECTION 10 OF 10

Make the enquiry specific

Back to contents

Share a recent school attempt and the precise difficulty, such as recording collection as new revenue. Ask how suitable support would diagnose and check the correction.

Include course details, the current school topic and realistic weekday and weekend availability. Confirm actual provision before planning around a class.

A workable Secondary 3 routine links diagnosis, method, practice and a check. Choose the day that gives your child enough attention for that sequence.
