Secondary 4 Principles of Accounts (POA) Tuition | Clementi Weekday or Weekend Parent Dilemma

Three learners review open books together at a classroom table, with stacks of textbooks, stationery and a whiteboard in the bright room.

CLEMENTI · SECONDARY 4 · FAMILY LEARNING ROUTINES

Secondary 4 Principles of Accounts (POA) tuition in Clementi should give revision a precise checking job. A weekday can suit repairing a current-ratio calculation. A weekend can connect current assets, current liabilities, working capital and the effect of a payment, then explain the limits of the result.

Match materials to the student’s examination year and registered subject level. Locate the first uncertainty before selecting a routine: classification, formula, transaction effect or interpretation. Leave energy for a fresh independent attempt.

Did you know that a current ratio can rise while working capital stays unchanged? In a fictional business, current assets of $6,000 and current liabilities of $4,000 give a 1.5:1 ratio and $2,000 working capital. Paying $1,000 of an existing current liability from a positive bank balance changes the ratio to about 1.67:1, but working capital remains $2,000.

SECTION 1 OF 10

Give revision a clear checking job

Back to contents

A current-ratio mistake can begin before arithmetic. The student may misclassify an item, reverse the formula or change only one side of a transaction.

Bring the marked question and original attempt. Ask the student what current assets and current liabilities represent in that question.

A weekday can repair one classification or formula decision. A weekend can connect the transaction, recalculated measures and interpretation.

Confirm the student’s registered level and examination year when choosing revision materials.

A Clementi tuition search does not confirm local POA provision. Check actual teaching, venue and availability before making a commitment.

SECTION 2 OF 10

A higher ratio with unchanged working capital

Back to contents

Imagine a fictional business with total current assets of $6,000 and total current liabilities of $4,000. Current assets include a positive bank balance large enough to make the payment below. Assume no other transactions or changes.

Working capital is current assets minus current liabilities: $6,000 − $4,000 = $2,000.

The current ratio is current assets divided by current liabilities: $6,000 ÷ $4,000 = 1.5, expressed as 1.5:1.

The business now pays $1,000 of an existing trade payable from its positive bank balance. There is no discount, interest or fee.

Bank decreases by $1,000, so total current assets become $5,000. Trade Payables decreases by $1,000, so total current liabilities become $3,000.

The settlement entry is debit Trade Payables $1,000 and credit Bank $1,000. It clears part of an existing liability rather than creating another expense.

Working capital remains $5,000 − $3,000 = $2,000. The same amount was subtracted from both totals.

The current ratio becomes $5,000 ÷ $3,000 = 1.666…:1, or about 1.67:1 to two decimal places.

The ratio rises because the relative relationship changes when both positive totals fall by the same amount in this scenario. The absolute difference remains the same.

The payment does not create profit under these assumptions. It reduces cash and an existing obligation.

Do not conclude that the business now has more cash or that all its liquidity needs are solved. Cash has decreased, and the remaining assets, obligations and due dates still matter.

For comparison, start with current assets of $4,000 and current liabilities of $6,000. A $1,000 payment from sufficient positive Bank gives $3,000 and $5,000: the ratio falls from about 0.67:1 to 0.60:1 while working capital remains negative $2,000.

That comparison prevents turning the first result into a universal rule. The starting relationship and the transaction’s conditions matter.

SECTION 3 OF 10

Use a weekday to repair the transaction effect

Back to contents

A weekday can suit a student who subtracts the payment from current liabilities but forgets its effect on Bank.

Write the two movements before recalculating: current assets down $1,000; current liabilities down $1,000.

Then calculate working capital and the ratio separately. Ask what each measure compares.

Finish with a fresh example and a short explanation. The student should update both totals independently.

Check energy after school and travel. Confirm actual weekday availability directly.

SECTION 4 OF 10

Use a weekend for a connected comparison

Back to contents

A weekend may suit a full sequence from initial figures to payment, revised totals, revised measures and interpretation.

Keep the before-and-after figures in separate columns so the student can check every change.

Compare a starting ratio above 1:1 with a starting ratio below 1:1. Ask why the direction differs.

Pause before a fresh independent question. A familiar answer can conceal a missed transaction effect.

Keep the task proportionate to attention and leave time for other revision and rest.

SECTION 5 OF 10

Separate the difference from the ratio

Back to contents

Classify the relevant assets and liabilities before using their totals.

Identify the exact transaction and update every affected account. Read whether there is a discount, fee or overdraft condition.

Calculate working capital as a dollar difference. Calculate current ratio as a relative measure expressed against one.

Keep adequate precision and follow the question’s rounding instructions.

Interpret the measures using the scenario. A larger ratio does not automatically mean a larger dollar surplus.

Check asset composition and timing before making a broader liquidity judgement. Profitability also needs different information.

SECTION 6 OF 10

Practise conditions as well as formulas

Back to contents

First vary the payment amount while retaining sufficient positive Bank and the same settlement conditions.

Then change the starting relationship between assets and liabilities. Recalculate rather than assuming the ratio must rise.

Ask for a sentence explaining why working capital remains unchanged in these particular settlements.

Use appropriate school questions for other transactions or quick-ratio work. Those require their own account classification and formula.

Once the method is secure, use a timed question and review its first error.

SECTION 7 OF 10

Ask for feedback on interpretation

Back to contents

Useful feedback checks classification, account movement, formula and the meaning of the result.

If considering eduKate’s three-student format, ask whether suitable POA teaching is available and how individual attempts are reviewed.

The format alone does not establish a Clementi POA class. Confirm venue, slots, fees and arrangements directly.

Bring original working so the discussion can distinguish a formula error from a transaction-reading problem.

Use the appropriate examination materials

Back to contents

Confirm the student’s examination year and registered subject level with the school.

SECTION 9 OF 10

Review accuracy and independence

Back to contents

Ask for a fresh before-and-after calculation without the example beside the student.

Check that both current-asset and current-liability totals are updated, then ask for the distinction between working capital and ratio.

Look for clearer explanations and fewer repeated errors. Question volume alone is less informative.

Review travel, fatigue and follow-up too. Change the timing if it repeatedly undermines attention; refine the task if the misunderstanding persists.

SECTION 10 OF 10

Questions before the next revision step

Back to contents

Does a higher current ratio always mean more working capital? No. The first example’s ratio rises while its dollar difference stays $2,000.

Does paying the liability create profit? Not under these assumptions. It reduces Bank and an existing payable.

Will every payment make the ratio rise? No. The starting balances and conditions matter.

Must Secondary 4 revision be at the weekend? No. Choose a workable day for the specific task and follow-up.

What should we bring to an enquiry? Marked work, original working, registered level and examination year.

The POA subject guide gives context. Use the eduKate contact routes to ask about actual provision.
