Start here: identify the decision before collecting evidence
Use South Korea’s AcademyInfo, or 대학알리미, to compare the exact higher-education institution, campus, department and disclosure year shown in an offer. AcademyInfo publishes institution-submitted information at school, admissions-unit, department or major level across scheduled and ad hoc disclosure periods.
Public disclosure is not a universal recognition or accreditation certificate. A university result can include several campuses, and a data item can belong to a particular year, unit and reporting definition. Match the institution and campus first, then the department and item; use separate official quality-assurance, admissions and receiving-body sources for decisions outside the disclosure system.
This guide was checked on 26 October 2026 against current primary guidance. This guide uses South Korea Ministry of Education and AcademyInfo sources checked on 26 October 2026, including the April 2026 disclosure cycle. Data fields, covered institutions, definitions and reporting years can change; the live disclosure, institution clarification and responsible decision-maker control the case.
This specialist sits under The Gold Standard of Education: Learning That Transfers into Life. The parent framework keeps the purpose visible: understand the system, act on the correct evidence and build independence for the next decision.

1. Start with the exact university and campus
AcademyInfo search results can represent campuses as distinct results, and similar Korean or English names can obscure the legal or reporting unit.
Copy the Korean institution name, campus and region from the offer before searching. Save the matched result and retrieval date.
Decision rehearsal and changed-context transfer
Turn this chapter into a live file. The student or family comparing a South Korean university, campus or department through AcademyInfo before applying or using a qualification states the present decision in one sentence. South Korea’s Ministry of Education, the Korean Council for University Education disclosure centre, the reporting higher education institution, its campus and department, admissions, the learner and later receiving organisations supplies only the evidence it owns. the AcademyInfo institution and campus result, department or major record, disclosure item and year, source definition, offer, admissions notice, enrolment record, transcript and award records the result. Date every source and distinguish an official fact, an institution-specific decision, an estimate and a personal preference.
Now change one condition: the receiving organisation changes. Preserve every fact that remains valid and reopen only the conclusions that depend on the changed condition. Name the new page, document, calculation or contact required. This is the difference between understanding a system and memorising one outcome.
Run a boundary test. Write what the current evidence proves, what it does not prove and who has authority over the next decision. Replace one identifier, date or category and repeat the reasoning. If the conclusion changes without a cited rule or written decision, an assumption has entered the file.
Finish with a five-line handover: current state; controlling source; unresolved question; next permitted action; review date. A parent, adviser or future learner should be able to reconstruct the case without relying on memory or a private conversation.
2. Understand the disclosure system
AcademyInfo exists to publish information held and reported by higher-education institutions under the education-institution disclosure framework. It supports students, families, employers, institutions and policy work.
Treat the system as structured public disclosure, not as a marketing ranking or a single approval badge.

3. Know the covered institution boundary
The covered-university guidance ties disclosure to institutions established under the Higher Education Act or other laws, while specifying exclusions and the treatment of cyber universities.
Check whether the institution and type fall within the disclosure scope. Absence may require a different official route rather than an immediate conclusion of invalidity.

4. Match the reporting unit
Data can be disclosed at school, admissions-unit, department or major level. A university-wide figure may not describe the learner’s department, and a department figure may not represent every campus.
Record the unit printed beside the figure. Do not compare data from different levels as if the denominators were identical.

5. Match the disclosure year and cycle
AcademyInfo publishes regular cycles in April, June, August and October, plus ad hoc disclosures. The April 2026 MOE release covered a defined set of items and institutions.
Put the reporting year and disclosure date beside every figure. Reopen the item when a later cycle may have changed it.

6. Read definitions before comparing numbers
Tuition, student, staff, research, finance, facilities and outcomes fields use official definitions and reporting rules. Similar labels can have different denominators or coverage.
Open the item definition and compare like with like. If a field is blank, corrected or not applicable, preserve that state instead of converting it to zero.

7. Work a multi-campus case
Suppose one university name appears with main and branch campuses, while the offer names a department at only one location. A group-wide result cannot settle the learner’s campus-specific question.
Filter by campus and department, then compare the offer, delivery location and disclosure unit. Ask the institution to explain any mismatch in writing.

8. Use corrections and update notes
Institutions submit and manage disclosure data, and official guidance notes that values can be corrected for accuracy. A saved earlier value may therefore differ from the current page.
Record the retrieval date, correction note and source. Preserve the earlier snapshot when it affected a real decision, but use the current official result for the present comparison.

9. Keep admissions decisions separate
Disclosure data about selection, enrolment or historic outcomes does not admit the learner or guarantee a future result. The current admissions notice controls eligibility, documents and deadlines.
Use AcademyInfo to understand context, then verify the exact applicant category and intake with the university’s admissions source.

10. Diagnose common AcademyInfo mistakes
Common errors include mixing campuses, comparing different reporting years, ignoring the unit, treating a blank as zero, converting public disclosure into accreditation and assuming a historical figure predicts admission.
Repair the comparison by aligning university, campus, department, unit, definition, year and decision owner.

11. Keep quality assurance and recognition separate
AcademyInfo can disclose relevant information without itself replacing institutional or programme accreditation decisions, professional licensing or foreign qualification recognition.
Identify the quality-assurance or receiving body for the specific next step and ask it about the exact programme and learner cohort.

12. Use AcademyInfo in sequence
Match the university and campus, select the department or unit, choose the reporting year, read the item definition and note any correction before interpreting the value.
Finish with a separate admissions or recognition check and a dated record of what the disclosure does and does not establish.

Authoritative sources and evidence boundary
These primary sources were checked on 26 October 2026. Reopen the live record near any enrolment, recognition, immigration, transfer, funding or licensing decision because statuses, dates and operating guidance can change.
- Korea MOE April 2026 university information disclosure announcement
- AcademyInfo purpose, scope, units and disclosure schedule
- AcademyInfo university, department and disclosure search
- AcademyInfo covered-university definitions and exclusions
A source can establish only the fact within its remit. Keep the current authority record beside learner-specific evidence and obtain the responsible organisation’s written decision where acceptance, credit, protection, immigration or eligibility is at stake.

Build an auditable decision file
Open with the exact decision and its deadline. Attach the current current AcademyInfo result for the exact university, campus, department, disclosure item and reporting year, the learner-specific record and the receiver’s published requirements. A general webpage explains a rule; it does not replace a learner-specific decision from the responsible body.
Create one evidence row for each controlling fact: institution name, school type, establishment type, campus, region, department or major, admissions unit, disclosure category, item definition, reporting year, disclosure date, correction note, offer, learner intake and receiver requirement. Give every row a source, retrieval date, status and owner. Mark a fact confirmed only when the cited source proves it. Use reported, estimated or pending for everything else.
Separate inputs from outputs. Inputs are facts supplied by the learner, provider or authority. Outputs are comparisons, classifications and decisions made from them. If an output looks wrong, check the input, then the dated rule, then any recorded exception.
Keep a change log for institution name, merger status, campus, school type, department, admissions unit, item definition, reporting year, disclosure date, correction and learner intake. Record the old fact, new fact, date learned, source and every conclusion that must be reopened. Do not silently overwrite the earlier state; the history explains why a reasonable plan changed.
Add a deadline map with the formal deadline, an earlier internal deadline and the recovery route if evidence arrives late. Where no recovery route is published, record that absence rather than inventing one. Reopen the official page near the action date because archived guidance can look authoritative.
Use a responsibility matrix. The Ministry of Education oversees the disclosure framework; the KCUE university-information disclosure centre operates AcademyInfo and monitors submitted data; institutions prepare and manage their disclosures; admissions and later receivers make separate decisions. If two people assume the other has acted, the file should expose the gap before the deadline.
Keep a contact note for each official enquiry: channel, date, question, answer and reference number. If verbal advice conflicts with a published rule or written decision, ask for clarification in writing before an irreversible action.
Run a source hierarchy check. Put the responsible authority first, current operational guidance second, the learner-specific notice third and informal explanation last. Where two official pages appear inconsistent, record both dates and ask which governs the present case.
Schedule a cold review two working days before any irreversible boundary. Recheck names, identifiers, dates, programme codes, study load and document version. Save the submission acknowledgement without treating receipt as approval.
After the decision, reconcile the notice with the plan line by line. Record what was accepted, refused, limited or deferred and the route for correction, review or appeal. Preserve the original decision when adding later correspondence.
Add a “not yet proved” page. List every conclusion that still depends on institution name, school type, establishment type, campus, region, department or major, admissions unit, disclosure category, item definition, reporting year, disclosure date, correction note, offer, learner intake and receiver requirement. Beside each item, name the smallest official record that would settle it and the person who can obtain that record. This stops a plausible estimate from drifting into the confirmed column merely because it has been repeated.
Rehearse a correction request before one is needed. Identify the learner, present decision, disputed input, supporting document and requested remedy without claiming an entitlement the evidence cannot establish. Address it to the organisation that owns the record or decision, keep a copy, and record the published response or escalation route.
Ask an independent reader to challenge the file. They should identify the weakest assumption, locate the official sentence that controls it and describe what changes if the assumption fails. Record that answer without deleting the earlier reasoning; the audit trail should show learning, not pretend uncertainty never existed.
Build a conservative time and cost plan beside the evidence file. Show what is already confirmed, what is estimated, which payment or enrolment step becomes irreversible and when. Then test a delayed decision and a less favourable outcome. The exercise does not predict the authority’s answer; it prevents an optimistic reading from becoming an unexamined commitment.
Ask The student or family comparing a South Korean university, campus or department through AcademyInfo before applying or using a qualification to narrate the case aloud in under two minutes: “This is my present state; this is the governing source; this is the learner-specific evidence; this is the unresolved boundary; this is my next permitted action.” A listener should be able to distinguish fact, comparison and choice without prompting.
Practise one counterfactual. Change only the university, campus, department, disclosure year, data definition, learner intake or receiving organisation and trace which conclusions stay valid. The exercise reveals whether the learner understands the dependency chain or has memorised an answer belonging to another case.
Finish with a retention plan. Keep source documents, decisions, receipts and later corrections for as long as they remain useful to explain the education record. Store identifiers securely and share only what the named recipient needs.
Frequently asked questions
What is AcademyInfo?
South Korea’s university information disclosure service operated within the official higher-education disclosure framework.
Does one university result cover every campus?
Not necessarily. Search and match the exact campus.
Why does the reporting unit matter?
School, admissions-unit, department and major data answer different questions.
Are all fields updated at the same time?
No. Regular cycles occur in April, June, August and October, with ad hoc disclosure as applicable.
Does public disclosure equal accreditation?
No. Accreditation and quality assurance require their own official evidence.
Can historical data guarantee admission?
No. Current admissions rules and competitive selection control the intake.
What if a value changes?
Check the current item, date and correction information and preserve the earlier snapshot if it affected a decision.
What should the learner retain?
The matched result, definition, year, offer, admissions notice, written clarification, transcript and award.
Close the workbook by explaining the process without notes. A dependable explanation names the authority, present state, evidence, deadline and consequence if one assumption fails.
