The contract says uptime is high, but are the readings useful?
A sensor supplier meets a connectivity target while measurements drift outside the accuracy needed for planning. Contract governance should connect technical obligations to the actual monitoring purpose.
Define outcomes and service levels
Accuracy, data completeness, maintenance response and support should reflect the intended use.
Use verifiable evidence
Operational logs, calibration results and independent checks may provide a stronger basis than vendor claims alone.
Allocate responsibilities
Clarify which party handles faults, replacement, data corrections and security updates.
Manage changes
Hardware, software and site changes may affect performance or historical comparability.
Review recurring failures
Repeated defects may indicate inadequate design, maintenance or contractual incentives.
Apply fair governance
Follow applicable procurement rules, documented evaluation and authorised remedies.
Break-test: a supplier meets response time targets but never resolves the underlying fault
Does the contract review examine durable outcomes rather than ticket closure speed?
