A legislature, a dinosaur display and a science experiment ask you to make three different distinctions: institution versus building, original evidence versus replica, and prediction versus observed result. Regina provides settings for all three. This English–Chinese vocabulary guide helps students and families turn those distinctions into questions, explanations and connected travel writing.
Top 100 Vocabulary for Visiting and Touring Canada | Regina is a travel-learning guide for students, families and visitors. Its focus is Wascana's civic landscape, provincial institutions, fossil evidence, policing interpretation, science, art and sports planning. Each of the 100 entries includes an English meaning, Chinese meaning, original English model and Chinese translation. Choose the words connected with your actual outing; you do not need to learn all 100 before starting.
这份里贾纳旅行学习指南分十组,共100个词语。请先理解词义与关系,再练习提问和写作。中文帮助理解;查地图、交通或预约时,请保留正式英语名称。例句是教学模型,并非已完成行程的记录。
The examples illustrate language use, not confirmed bookings or current operating promises. Opening, transport, tours, access and weather-related decisions must be checked with the relevant official provider. Proper-name translations are learning aids; the English name remains useful for searches and maps.

The learning shift: names must become relationships
Recognizing a word is useful, but recognition does not yet explain a place. Start by identifying the category: destination, institution, object, process, condition or source. Then connect it with something else. Where is the destination? What does the institution do? Which task does the object perform? What changes in the process? Which authority settles the condition? What can the source support? These questions turn a familiar label into language you can actually use.
For example, a venue and its programme are connected without being identical. The venue has a location; a particular programme has dates and booking conditions. A photograph can show a visible feature, but it cannot confirm every detail of the explanation behind it. If you separate those relationships before writing, the sentence becomes easier to check. You also gain a useful question to ask when the information is incomplete.
Use the Chinese support to understand the whole idea. Then cover the model and explain the meaning in a fresh English sentence. A literal word-for-word translation can hide the job a term performs. For a place, locate it; for a process, explain an action; for evidence, identify what is recorded; for a condition, state the required check. If a sentence feels uncertain, repair the relationship before adding more vocabulary.

1. Locate the prairie capital | Words 1–10
Begin with Regina's map and the scale of each destination. Wascana Centre is a larger precinct; Wascana Lake is one geographical feature within it. A downtown park, neighbourhood and avenue should not be treated as the same kind of place. Ask the learner to locate a destination and describe its relationship to another feature. Then confirm the actual entrance and journey rather than assuming the whole city fits within a single lakeside walk.

2. Separate the institution from the building | Words 11–20
The Legislative Building houses an institution whose work involves debate, procedure and proposed legislation. A chamber is a room; a legislature is a body; a bill is a proposal rather than an already enacted law. These distinctions help a learner explain government without reducing it to architecture. 3. Read fossils and replicas accurately | Words 21–30
Scotty is a named dinosaur specimen, but a display may use casts to represent fossil material. Original bone, replica and scientific reconstruction answer different questions. Ask which evidence supports the account and where uncertainty remains. The geological timescale also needs a different scale from human history. A strong museum paragraph can be enthusiastic while explaining these distinctions. Do not turn a display label about one specimen into an unsupported claim about every dinosaur.

4. Visit policing history with boundaries | Words 31–40
The heritage museum and the training academy are neighbouring but distinct settings. Museum admission does not establish unrestricted academy access. A ceremonial uniform has a role different from ordinary working clothing, and cadet training is not automatically a tourist performance. Ask which historical perspectives are included and how an institutional account is supported. Use authorized tours and respect restricted grounds. Careful vocabulary makes both the visit plan and the historical discussion more responsible.

5. Interpret Government House | Words 41–50
A heritage house can be read as rooms, functions, furnishings and the people who worked there. Do not assume every visible item is original to the house. Identify the period and use the site's interpretation to explain the vice-regal connection. A lieutenant-governor and a premier perform different roles. Garden design is another layer of the account, not proof of a scheduled outdoor event. Ask how preservation and visitor access are balanced in the present.

6. Explain an experiment rather than guessing | Words 51–60
At a hands-on exhibit, read the instruction before changing the device. Identify the condition kept constant, what you change and what you observe. A predicted result is not an experimental outcome. Repeatability requires comparable conditions, not simply trying again with several changes at once. A science-centre film is another activity with its own subject and admission arrangements. The learning goal is to explain a relationship clearly, not only to say that an exhibit moved or flashed.

Identify individual makers, materials and themes before describing an exhibition. Indigenous contemporary art belongs to living artists and varied practices, not one anonymous style. 9. Understand a game-day plan | Words 81–90
The Roughriders and Regina Pats play different sports and participate in different leagues. A home fixture identifies a scheduled event; it does not guarantee a ticket or settle stadium rules. 10. Connect habitat, continuity and enquiry | Words 91–100
An urban lake is both a public landscape and an environment requiring management. Waterfowl habitat, migratory use and conservation access need evidence and current guidance. A prairie capital landscape is not empty simply because it looks open. Replica identification and the institution-versus-building distinction are useful checks before finalizing the paragraph.

Four Regina practice activities
Try the task before reading the answer. These models demonstrate a relationship rather than prescribe a real itinerary. If you add an actual date, route, availability statement or operational rule, check that detail separately. The strongest answer makes the role of each selected word clear.
Explain the civic distinction
Use Saskatchewan Legislative Building, provincial legislature and legislative chamber. Name the building, the institution and the room without making them interchangeable.
Original eduKateSG model: Saskatchewan Legislative Building houses the provincial legislature. The institution conducts legislative work. The legislative chamber is a room used for proceedings, so its name does not describe the whole institution.
Describe dinosaur evidence
Use fossil specimen, skeletal cast and scientific reconstruction. Explain why a convincing display can include replicated material while remaining useful for learning.
Original eduKateSG model: A fossil specimen provides original material for study. A skeletal cast represents the shape of skeletal material. A scientific reconstruction uses evidence to present the animal, and its limits should still be explained.
Repair academy access
Use RCMP Heritage Centre, Depot Division and authorized tour. Replace a claim that museum admission permits wandering around all training grounds.
Original eduKateSG model: RCMP Heritage Centre is the museum destination. Depot Division is the training academy setting next door. We check the scope of an authorized tour rather than treating museum admission as unrestricted access.
Report an experiment
Use controlled variable, experimental outcome and repeatable result. Write a short sequence that separates what was expected from what was observed.
Original eduKateSG model: We kept the controlled variable unchanged and recorded the experimental outcome. We repeated the test under comparable conditions. A repeatable result supports a clearer explanation than reporting only our first prediction.
Check the mechanism, not only the spelling
- Can I explain what each term identifies without repeating its label?
- Have I kept the whole place distinct from one building or activity inside it?
- Is the source or speaker identified when the account depends on one?
- Have I separated what I observed from what I inferred or was told?
- Does a current condition require a provider check rather than a remembered example?
- Can I change the situation while keeping the word’s meaning accurate?
If an answer fails one check, repair that step first. A correct spelling cannot rescue a confused relationship. Conversely, a learner who explains the relationship clearly has a useful foundation even when pronunciation or spelling still needs practice. Ask for a second version in a different situation, then revisit the original later. This shows whether the understanding transfers or whether the sentence was only copied from the page.
Diagnose the Regina vocabulary gap
A dome stands in for the whole government
If the learner calls a building ‘the government’ without explaining the institution, ask what activity takes place and who carries it out. Separate the structure, room, institution and procedure. Then rewrite one sentence using the correct relationship. This is the same kind of structural repair used in mathematical learning: familiar labels become reliable only when the learner understands what relates to what.
A cast becomes original bone
Appearance alone does not settle whether displayed material is original. Ask the learner to read the label or seek staff interpretation, then classify the material. A replica can make a large specimen accessible while protecting or representing original evidence. The corrected paragraph should explain that purpose rather than declaring the exhibit fake. Good vocabulary distinguishes evidence and representation without dismissing the educational value of either.
A first prediction becomes the recorded result
If a learner writes the expected outcome as though it occurred, return to the observation. What moved, changed or remained constant? Record that before explaining why. If several variables changed, acknowledge that the comparison is limited. Repeat under comparable conditions where the exhibit permits it. This repair transfers to travel writing: an expectation about a place is different from an observation made there, and both should be identified honestly.
Choose a small repair and try again
Take one unclear sentence from the learner’s own work. Underline the terms that have been joined incorrectly, identify their categories and explain the actual connection aloud. Keep the correction manageable. Then write one fresh sentence and one question using the repaired relationship. Return to the same pair later without the printed model. Progress is visible when the learner can explain the idea independently, not merely repeat the correction immediately after hearing it.
Write one connected Regina paragraph
Choose one place, object or process from the visit. Build the paragraph in four moves: identify it; describe a specific feature; explain a supported relationship; end with a question worth investigating. Use two or three precise terms instead of crowding the paragraph with ten. The explanation gives the observation a purpose. The final question can show genuine curiosity where evidence is incomplete, rather than pretending that a short visit settled every historical or scientific issue.
For a real journal, mark the difference between observation and reported explanation. “I noticed” identifies a personal observation. “The museum label explains” attributes an account. “This suggests” signals an inference that needs suitable support. Use those distinctions naturally rather than making every sentence sound formal. Remove any operational promise you have not verified. Read the paragraph aloud: can a reader follow the relationship without having stood beside you? If not, add the missing connection before adding another adjective.
A manageable retrieval routine
Before an outing, choose three words from one group. Explain them without looking and make one practical question. During the visit, notice whether the term helps you locate, understand or check something. Afterwards, use one word in a new account. Revisit the same three later before expanding the set. This routine turns the list into retrieval and use. You can complete a worthwhile learning session without covering the whole page or treating every pause as a speed test.
A parent or tutor can ask: Which word helped with a decision? Which word changed the way you understood the place? Which word still needs a source? A younger learner may draw the relationship; an older learner may justify it in a paragraph. Both show understanding. If the answer is vague, ask for one example and one distinction. Encourage the exact idea that became clearer, so the learner knows what was improved and can repeat that move elsewhere.
Bring the understanding home to Singapore
The learning continues after Regina. Location terms help organize maps; process terms sequence explanations; evidence terms support reading; condition terms improve practical decisions. In school writing, the same habits help you distinguish a character’s statement from a narrator’s account, a scientific prediction from an observation, or an institution from the building associated with it. The transferable skill is accurate explanation, not a performance of how many travel names you can remember.
Our Clementi learning guide provides the underlying teaching rhythm: understand structure, locate the mistaken move, practise a focused repair and check the result. Apply that rhythm to a travel sentence. Find exactly where a source became a claim, a place became an activity or a possibility became a guarantee. Correct that relationship and try a new sentence. The subject has changed, but the habit of clear reasoning remains useful.

Compare a function such as movement, gathering or public learning, then preserve the differences in setting and operation. A shared question does not mean the institutions, climates or transport rules are identical.
Frequently asked questions
Which Regina words should I begin with?
Start with Regina, Wascana Centre, Wascana Lake and the institution or museum you plan to visit. Add journey and access terms before learning another group.
Is the RCMP museum the same as the training academy?
No. The heritage centre is next to Depot Division. Follow the specific museum and authorized-tour arrangements rather than assuming unrestricted access.
Does a dinosaur display necessarily consist of original fossil bones?
No. It can include skeletal casts or other reconstruction. Read the museum's explanation to identify the evidence and representation.
Is a bill the same as an enacted law?
No. A bill is proposed legislation. Its status depends on the relevant legislative process, which this visitor vocabulary guide does not replace.
How can this list improve school explanations?
It trains useful distinctions: institution and building, evidence and replica, prediction and observation. Explain one of those relationships clearly before trying to write a longer account.
Should I memorize every model sentence?
No. Understand the term, explain the relationship and make a new sentence. The original examples give you a starting point, not a script for every situation. If your version changes a real-world fact or operational condition, verify the changed detail. Three accurately used words can provide a stronger beginning than 100 remembered labels without clear meaning.
