Wallace Trail is a Dairy Farm Nature Park walk that NParks describes as stretching 2.2km from Hillview MRT to Wallace Education Centre. The park’s activity page grades it easy to moderate and estimates about one hour one-way.
One-way is the important qualifier: the estimate does not include a return, long pauses or an Education Centre visit. Dairy Farm Nature Park opens from 7am–7pm, while Wallace Education Centre opens 8.30am–5pm except Mondays. Check the trail map and current notices before travelling.
The route is dedicated to naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace and invites attention to the area’s wildlife and former kampung landscape. Walk it as a chance to notice details, not simply as a distance to complete. One interesting observation can stay with you longer than a rushed list of sights.

SECTION 1 OF 5
1. Plan the return before starting
Decide whether you will retrace the route, use another permitted walking exit or arrange transport from the finish. Repeating a full 2.2km outward route makes that walking component approximately 4.4km.
NParks’ one-hour estimate is a planning reference, not a deadline. Allow more time for photographs, rests and a group with different walking speeds.
If the Education Centre is the main reason for visiting, coordinate arrival with its shorter schedule rather than only the park’s closing time.

2. Use the current trail guide
The Dairy Farm activity page links to the Wallace Trail guide and map. Save it and identify the route before entering the park.
Our Dairy Farm visitor guide covers the wider setting. Keep the trail itself distinct from Singapore Quarry, the park connector and other nearby routes.
Do not let a similarly named destination determine your route. Dairy Farm Nature Park and Dairy Farm Park Connector serve different kinds of visit.
SECTION 3 OF 5
3. Notice the kampung and forest clues
NParks identifies old kampung remnants and fruit trees among the route’s points of interest. Look for the relevant interpretation rather than guessing at the function of a partly hidden object.
For children, use a small observation task: one plant shape, one sound and one question. You can investigate the names afterwards without interrupting every few steps.
Do not pick fruit, remove plants or collect an object as a souvenir. Keep the experience in a note or photograph and leave the place intact.
SECTION 4 OF 5
4. Check the route’s specific limits
Pets are not allowed on Wallace Trail. Dairy Farm’s leashed-pet exception applies only from Carpark A to Singapore Quarry, not to this walk.
The park’s stated wheelchair-access section is from Carpark B to Wallace Education Centre only. That description does not establish that the full Wallace Trail is wheelchair accessible.
Keep hikers on hiking trails and riders on their designated routes. An adjacent biking path is not a convenient walking shortcut.

5. Carry what helps you enjoy the walk
NParks recommends covered walking shoes, comfortable long clothing, water in a backpack and considering insect repellent for the trail.
Check weather before travelling. Postpone or shorten a forest visit when conditions are unsuitable, rather than trying to satisfy a fixed itinerary.
Our Wallace Education Centre guide covers the separate indoor stop. It can enrich the walk when open, but a Monday plan needs a different expectation.
Give yourself room to pause and return comfortably. A nature trail is more rewarding when there is time to be curious along the way.
