Plan your visit
The most useful parking decision comes before the drive: name the attraction you want to visit. A car park that gets you into the Gardens is not necessarily the one that gives your group the most comfortable walk.
For families coming from Bukit Timah, resist choosing solely by the shortest driving journey. Add the walk to the attraction and the walk back. Saving a little time behind the wheel can be a poor trade if it leaves a tired child or older relative with a much longer return.
The official list pairs Botany Centre B1/B2 with Tanglin, Learning Forest with Tyersall, Cluny Park Road with its namesake entrance, and Car Parks A/B/C with Nassim. It also lists Gallop Extension, Centre for Ethnobotany via Evans Road/Kheam Hock Road, and Raffles Building via Evans Road/Nassim.
Use these as orientation points, not a claim that a particular lot is vacant. Open the official map, locate your first attraction and compare the approach. If accessibility matters, ask about the specific path from the parking area rather than assuming proximity settles the question.
The visitor page lists parking hours as 5am to midnight, with no overnight parking. It separately states that Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden car park is closed on Mondays. Recheck the current arrangements, especially for a public-holiday visit.
Set your leaving time around the earliest relevant constraint: your attraction, your family’s energy or the parking operation. The ability to leave a car for longer does not extend the opening hours of a gallery or a children’s attraction.
The rate calculation is straightforward: multiply the total parked minutes by $0.02. A 90-minute stay gives an illustrative charge of $1.80. Your actual stay includes unloading, reaching the attraction, breaks and returning—not only time spent looking around.
If you are meeting another family, agree on a named entrance before either car sets off. Photograph your parking location for your own reference. It is a small action that can save a surprisingly frustrating search at the end of a visit.
Consider public transport if your preferred outing finishes at a different part of the Gardens from where it begins. Driving creates a return journey to the vehicle even when the next logical destination is somewhere else.
Keep a fallback plan for a full car park that does not involve unsafe waiting or an improvised roadside drop-off. A different entrance may work, but reassess the walking distance before committing. The goal is a comfortable visit, not simply finding a place to stop the car.
