Bukit Panjang MRT Exits A–D: Hillion, LRT and Bus Interchange Guide

Three students in school uniforms work through open books at a classroom table, with textbooks and stationery nearby and study notes on the whiteboard behind them.

Bukit Panjang MRT is a useful transport starting point at the northern end of the Upper Bukit Timah corridor. When your journey combines a train, mall stop, LRT ride or bus, the exit choice matters as much as the station name.

SBS Transit lists the LRT and Bukit Panjang Plaza under Exit A, Junction 10 under Exit B, park-connector directions under Exit C, and the bus interchange and Hillion Mall under Exit D. Hillion also appears under Exit A.

This guide uses the Downtown Line operator’s directory. Check the signs for the specific connection you need rather than assuming MRT and LRT exits use identical numbering and layouts.

SECTION 1 OF 5

1. Match the exit to the next stage

Decide whether you are leaving for a destination or changing to another mode of transport. That decision helps you follow the right signs before you reach street level.

Our recommendation is to save the destination name and full address. If meeting someone, specify the MRT exit or mall meeting point rather than simply saying ‘Bukit Panjang station’.

2. Treat the LRT transfer as its own connection

Follow signs towards the LRT when that is the next leg of your journey. Allow time to reach the boarding area and confirm the service direction on current displays.

For a bus connection, follow the interchange signs and check your service’s boarding berth. An interchange and a roadside bus stop are different places, even when both are associated with the same station.

3. Know the lift and facility listings

SBS Transit lists street lifts at A1, B and C, plus a platform-to-concourse lift. Its directory places the taxi stand at B, roadside bus stops at A2, B and C, and concourse toilets opposite the Passenger Service Centre.

If heading through a mall or transfer connection, ask staff about the full step-free route when needed. The street-lift list alone does not describe every onward connection.

4. Keep a mall stop easy to organise

Choose one main shopping or meal destination and review its current business hours. The station’s exit directory gives orientation rather than a live list of open shops.

Our suggested approach is to complete the essential journey first, then decide whether to pause for food. Keeping one optional stop makes a multi-stage trip easier for children and anyone travelling with bags.

5. Check the whole return journey

If the return uses MRT plus LRT or a bus, check the operating arrangements for every leg. A late train arriving at an interchange does not by itself confirm that the next service will still be available.
