Hillview MRT is a useful starting point for an Upper Bukit Timah day that combines a neighbourhood stop with a nature outing. Choose your first destination before leaving the station, and the rest of the visit becomes much easier to organise.
Hillview is DT3 on the Downtown Line. HillV2’s official transport page names it as the mall’s nearest MRT station, while NParks includes it on the Dairy Farm Nature Park map.
This guide helps you choose between a mall visit and a park-focused outing. Each has a different pace, so give the day one clear main stop.

SECTION 1 OF 5
1. Choose your first destination
For a meal or shopping visit, start with our HillV2 guide. Check the individual business you intend to visit before setting off.
For a nature outing, use our Dairy Farm guide to choose a park entrance and destination. Our suggestion is to decide on the walk before adding a meal stop.

2. Check the walking route at the station
Use the station locality map and current signs to choose an exit for your exact destination. Save the destination address as well as its name, especially when meeting someone.
If you need lifts, ask staff to help identify the appropriate route before leaving the concourse. Check the outdoor connection too; a lift within a station does not establish the accessibility of every onward pavement or park trail.
SECTION 3 OF 5
3. Notice the railway story in the artwork
LTA identifies Hillview’s Art in Transit work as What Remains by Darren Soh. It records remnants of the former KTM railway, including the nearby steel bridge and remaining tracks.
If you enjoy looking at places closely, this gives your arrival a small theme: what survives when an old transport route changes? You can carry that question into a later 9 Mile Platform visit.
SECTION 4 OF 5
4. Keep the park and meal plans separate
Our practical recommendation is to budget for the outdoor approach as part of your walk. Reaching the MRT station is only one stage of a park outing.
Look at the park’s current opening hours, weather and notices before choosing a longer route. If the weather changes, keeping your main destination simple makes it easier to shorten the day.

5. Plan your return before adding another stop
At the end of your first activity, check everyone’s energy before extending the visit. Returning by the same station can be convenient, but another station may suit a different destination.
For an outing centred on The Rail Mall, compare the Hume MRT guide before choosing your arrival point. Use the operator’s current journey and train-time information for the return.
